Tobacco is a green plant that is grown in warm climates. Once it is picked, it is dried, ground up, and then can be used in many different ways. It can be smoked in a pipe, cigarette, or a cigar. It can also be chewed which is a smokeless tobacco called chewing tobacco. It can also be sniffed through the nose which is ‘snuff.’ Chewing tobacco is made of loose tobacco leaves that are sweetened and packaged in pouches. It is used as a wad and placed in between the cheek and the gum and held there. Sometimes people even keep it there for hours. Tobacco juices are usually spit out, but some people who get addicted end up swallowing some of the juices. Smokeless tobacco contains more nicotine then cigarette smoke, so it is more addictive then cigarette smoke. Some people think that using smokeless tobacco to quit chewing are very wrong this will not make you quit it just makes you want more and you end up doing both. Smokeless tobacco contains many chemicals that vary from arsenic to lead, and cadmium to cyanide. Smokeless tobacco can cause cancer of the lips, gums, cheeks, pharynx, stomach, and pancreas. Smokeless tobacco can also cause heart disease, leukoplakia, gum recession, or peeling back of gums, bone, loss around the teeth, and bad breath. The easiest way to recognize that the smoking or chewing is becoming a problem, is do you crave a cigarette or a dip, do you do it without thinking, do you rationalize or justify smoking, do you choose friends, jobs, or activates that permit you to smoke, do you avoided those who do not allow you. If you have recognized a problem you can take steps to quit, it will be a hard road but you will be happy with the outcome. You must stay clear of all high-risk situation where you feel the urge to smoke. Reduce or avoid alcohol and caffeine: alcohol clouds the judgment and can make it easier to use tobacco
