7.) In 1997, Dr. Hans Selye years as a stress-researcher found that the body has a three-stage reaction to stress. The first stage: Alarm, the second stage: resistance, and the third stage: exhaustion. He called the three stages of chain of reactions to stress the, "general adaptation syndrome." The first stage of general adaptation syndrome is alarm and this is when your body recognizes the stressor and prepares for the fight/flight. This done by letting go of the hormones from the endocrine glands. These hormones will cause a rise in the person 's heartbeat and respiration, rise in the blood sugar level, rise in perspiration, dilated pupils, and very slow digestion. The physical effects of stress will take a heavy toll on our well-being/health. Chronic stress will lead to higher risks for heart disease, increase progress of cancer and increased speed of cancer that may return, more susceptibility to develop a prediabetic condition, memory problems and Alzheimer 's, irritable bowl syndrome, peptic ulcers, and etc. Before many of these issues occur/develop, your body has a natural way of telling you that there is way too much stress and tension in your life. Many of us have a special physical organ/target area, that will let us know if the stress is too much. Some physical effects of stress include: headaches, stomach aches, dizziness, blurry vision, vomiting, asthma, allergies, diarrhea, and common colds. On the other hand, the behavioral effects of stress includes: tears, depression, nail biting, worry, insomnia, hair twisting, grinding of teeth, boredom, and door slamming.
