In this paper I will discuss, or give, both sides of the argument for the question: “Should organizations do all they can to establish a positive culture, because it works, or is building a positive culture manipulative?” There are many arguments to both sides and hopefully this can clear up some views people may have on this issue. Many people would say that an organization should do everything that they can in order to establish a positive culture. This is true in a lot of cases. Establishing positive culture in an organization is very important for many reasons. First, establishing this positive culture is quite an easy thing to do. An example of how it can be done may be holding weekly team meetings that discuss what the team has done in order to make a difference in customers’ or patients’ lives. Whenever you or someone you work with gets a better sense of meaning for their job, your organizational culture becomes more positive.
Another reason that it is a good idea to have a positive culture in the organization is that it enhances performance levels. “Culture manifests itself at different levels of an organization and presents a set of propositions on the use of performance information that takes into account both the different levels of organizational culture and the different cultures in an organization” (Taylor, 2014). To begin, the four functions of management are: planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
