I usually don't make my political view public, but this is something I consider to be grossly wrong. School uniforms in public schools goes well beyond infringement of a student's first amendment rights. It is a big step toward Fascism and control. It goes against my personal moral beliefs and should not be forced upon students and parents. The schools that are entrusted to teach our children about our constitution are the very institutions that are stripping the rights ensured to every American away from them.
The uniforms did not work in Colleton County during the 90s. It will not work now.
My mother was born in Italy in 1937. She had personal experience with Fascism at its extreme. I'm going to give a basic sugar coated description. I grew up hearing stories of families living in wine cellars and surviving off the cheese and wine stored there. She would hide in fear under the bed when we had storms with thunder because it reminded her of the war planes dropping bombs where she lived. People of Jewish descent were forced to wear the Jewish Star to make identifying them easier and the persecution was NOT limited to the Jews. My uncle was forced to join a Nazi youth group at 10 years old. He was required to wear a uniform and Hitler's beliefs shoved down his throat or face retribution, not only to himself but to his family. The Italian people as a whole were against the Fascist regime that had control of their country. At the end of the war, the citizens of Italy, dismembered Mussolini and paraded his body parts through the streets in victory.

I would like to know where does the authority of school teachers, administrators, superintendent (Paid $121K to force the issue), and school board cease?? Our Children are not ignorant. They have the ability to think and make sound choices. It is our responsibly as adults to TEACH them to be responsible adults and to learn from their mistakes. It is OUR job to teach them morals, and right from wrong. While the school shares in this responsibility, they do not have the right to force children into compliance with fear tactics of suspension or expulsion. We do them a great injustice by taking those rights away from them. The only thing we are teaching them is to conform to the dictates of a ruler. Look up Fascism in the dictionary -- This is its very definition.
Ever wonder what it would look like to have all students wearing the same white polo shirt, black pants, and a district sweater walking in the hallway? Nowadays, public school and many districts are discussing the possibilities of enforcing the uniform policy. In most places, many private schools already require students to have their mandatory uniforms; however, there are only a few public schools adopting this mandatory school-uniform polices as one of their enrollment requirements. The reason why not all public schools participated was because people believe that they are violating the freedom of choice when enforcing this mandatory uniform policy; yet problems such as bullying and segregation, emerged in these schools. Some people still think uniforms have no benefits at all. However, all public school students should be required to wear uniforms because it would improve the academic performance, reduce the violent behaviors based on appearance judgment, and provide less stress for both parents and students.

One of the greatest controversies that is spreading throughout high schools in the United States is parents and their children against the enforcement of their school’s uniform policy. More schools have been adopting uniform policies within the past decade. Rules contained in the policy that are implemented range from wearing certain types of tops (shirts) in specified colors to students being required to tuck in their shirts. I believe that school uniforms at pre-K through high school levels are an excellent way to help children succeed not only in school, but to prepare them for college and the “real world.” Three reasons why I believe school uniforms should be used in all schools is first, they are economic, next, they reduce distractions and finally, they help with social equality. Teachers, parents and school administrators feel the need for school uniforms as a positive way to increase school safety and increase academic performance. At the beginning of the 20th century almost no parent or faculty had any concerns with how students dressed to attend school. Nowadays, though, this is a giant concern among students, parents, and school board officials. Many arguments have been made over the matter saying uniforms should be required and enforced in schools. But, uniforms should not be required as they ultimately eliminate freedom of expression, promote conformity over individuality, may have a detrimental effect on students self image, emphasize the socioeconomic divisions they are supposed to eliminate, and lastly, school uniforms in public schools undermine the promise of a free education by adding an extra expense for families.

...n our public schools today - they may seem like a good suggestion, but when looked at closer, all uniforms do is disguise the center of attention of the real concern that need to be successfully worked out. If security is a worry, we shouldn't be looking to a uniform to rectify the issue - if the concern is students not concentrating on school work, or getting meager grades, again, uniforms should not be seen as a way out. We have a duty to teach our children as much as we can in safe surroundings, and those are grave concerns that cannot be resolved by putting all children in the same attire. If all the children are wearing the same clothes, you still have a question with security and poor instruction - and now you have a student body that is being taught not to express their individuality. Uniforms in some cases, add to a school's concern, they do not answer them.
Have you ever thought to observe a situation, such as instituting school uniforms, from all viewpoints? Typically, when discussing a topic such as school uniforms, many are quick to deem them as unjust and avoidable. What these individuals do not know is that, in fact, school uniforms would enhance how the learning environment functions. School uniforms are a necessary component needed in schools, for they show school unity, develop better student behavior, and improve how students perform academically.

I don’t think children or teens should have to wear school uniforms. It deprives them of their freedom of speech. They should have the right to wear what they want when they want. The uniforms are degrading and appalling. Everything would be dull and boring if everyone looked the same and wore the same stuff! Whatever happened to our U.S. Constitution? Some kids become stressed out and could get depressed because they cannot choose what they can wear, In Our own country? The land of the free and the home of the brave and we can’t even choose what we wear? The effect would be: students becoming angry and violent, and worst case scenario, suicide.
School uniforms in public schools are becoming increasingly popular across the nation. The public school system would benefit greatly if this policy were to be adopted. Opposition is always a factor when trying to make changes. Taking all things into consideration, the positive effects would be far greater than the negative effects. School uniforms should be required in public schools because their use would lead to higher education, less violence, and lower cost to parents.
First of all, these school uniforms should be implemented into the rest of these 17 schools, because it would diminish economic and social barriers between students. However, freedom of expression does consist of the rights to freedom of speech, assembly, and to petition the government, but the first amendment does not grant people the right to act any way they want without actions taken. Numerous schools have a straightforward dress code policy enforced. If these policies are violated, then the students could face consequences for their actions.
That is one less item that parents have to worry about. Just having to buy school uniforms instead of a whole new wardrobe after every new yea could help several families save money. It is said that having uniforms could potentially help
Introduction: The motion brought before the house today is “All schools should enforce the wearing of school uniforms from primary 1 to secondary 4.” This is a topic that is hot on the lips of educators, students and parents. School uniforms are a specific set or group of school-standardised clothing. If we look at America, only private and non-government run schools that institute the wearing of school uniforms. In Hong Kong, most schools require their students to wear school uniforms. My team is definitely in favour of schools having their students wear school uniforms. My teammates and I will demonstrate to you that the benefits brought by the wearing of school uniforms far outweigh any perceived disadvantages. Our first main argument, which will be explained by Brian, is that enforcing school uniforms in all schools will lift school spirit greatly. Justine will discuss our second argument, being that school uniforms reduce the amount of bullying. The fourth speaker, Ray, will debate about casual clothing distracting students.
