Singh and Dey (2015) conducted a study to see the role of NOGs in solid waste management in different municipalities of Mainpur in India and found that NGO’s role is very crucial to ensure community participation through regular meetings with public or local people or welfare associations to develop recycling units and generate resource. Further they can also help to become entrepreneurs to generate employment and economic betterment of the people. Thus, the role of NGOs cannot be compromised while managing waste in municipalities (p. 169).
On the other hand, Anschutz (1996) claims that waste management is a continuous process and to keep it running, the continuous participation of the community benefiting from the service is required. This …show more content…

This traditional way or neoclassical approach bears less significant to the people living both in urban and rural area as enforcement is hardly visible due to lack of human resource. Now, as the assimilative capacity of the environment diminishes, waste aggregates that impacts ecosystem and human health. As argued by Costanza et al. (1991) that nature is the economy 's life support system, and by ignoring the role of nature in economics it may inadvertently damage it beyond its ability to repair itself (p. 9). Therefore, managing of waste requires integration of enforcement and human moral responsibility that take account of economy, social benefit and overall the health of environment because the ecological economics envisions larger economy as part of whole earth system, atmosphere and its ecosystem (Daly and Farley 2004, p. 17).
Understanding the different dynamics of management of waste, it is clear that stakeholders have an important role to manage waste at all levels. Current approach of centralization of waste management activity limits individual or business to actively participate in management. This is because when everything regarding waste management is decided by the central authority, it prolongs the process leading to delay in implementation of waste management regulation and increase public resentment over complicated procedures for simple waste management
