Richard Rodriguez, a chicano author, successfully does himself the favor of observing the contrast between self and faith. He does this through a very spectacular lens, identifying the spiritual connection with religion as an inherent culture. This is proven in the interview with Bill Moyers where Rodriguez articulated the significant relations he experienced with Catholicism and the church 's’ institutional grounds. This paper will discuss the similar factors in respect to Rodriguez’ sexual identity. Furthermore, the interview with Bill Moyers as well as ‘Hunger of Memory’ by Rodriguez will assist in identifying these factors.
