H1N1 is a respiratory disease caused by the type A influenza virus. Swine influenza is not a new disease. It was first diagnosed in the year 1918. It was not clear then that whether human contracted the virus from pigs or pigs contracted it from humans. Somewhere between 20-40 million people died from it. Back then we called it the “Spanish Flu” or “La Grippe” now days we call it H1N1. People were at more of a risk of getting it back then, then we are today. It can take the body up to eight hours at the most and two hours at the least to contact this disease. Pregnant women, children under five years old, people sixty five or older, and women are more likely to get this disease. There are several different symptoms to the H1N1 virus. (Cough, fever, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, body aches, headaches, chills, fatigue, and vomiting) The two most common symptoms are vomiting and body aches. If you get these symptoms you should go see the doctor as soon as possible. When you’re in a doctors office and you see someone with a mask on it would be good for you to get one too. This disease is spread by people that sneeze and cough while having H1N1, you can also get this virus by touching something that has been in contact with H1N1 (doorknob, table etc.) Many people seem to think that the doctors office is very clean and germ free. That is not true. The doctors office is one of the most dirtiest places, and that’s where most people catch their germs from. Therefore when you go into the doctor’s office you need to take precaution of who you sit beside and who your children sit beside. Research says that if you get the vaccine you are more than likely not to get the virus, but even if you do get this vaccine you can still come in contact with this disease. Although when you get the vaccine it takes two weeks for the vaccination to kick in. If you get H1N1 the doctors can write you a prescription of antibiotics (Zanamivir or Oseltamivir). If you don’t stay consistent on this medicine then there is absolutely no use in taking it. It will not clear your system of this virus. In order to get rid of this awful virus you must take the whole prescription until the very last pill.
