PAN AM flight 103, taxied down London’s Heathrow airport at approximately 6:04 P.M., on December, 21st, 1988 en-route to New York City (Rosenburg, 2014). With 243 passengers and 16 crew members, “Clipper 103” as it was identified, had no clue they had roughly 38 minutes to live (Rosenburg, 2014). As the crew approached the oceanic portion of the flight the pilot requested permission from the tower to proceed with their journey over the Atlantic Ocean. This was the last time air traffic control would have verbal contact with the aircraft (Ushynskyi, 2009). A midair explosion sent all 259 people on board to a fiery grave. International law encompasses many aspects that seek to regulate the behavior among states during both times of war and peace. When a state proceeds to act outside of the set of international norms, the international community may act in a multitude of ways from one extreme to the other. This is what the world saw with the downing of a civilian flight in 1983. On September 1, 1983, Korean Airlines Flight 007 was on its last leg of a flight from New York City to Seoul, South Korea. At some point during the flight, for reasons that are highly speculative, the aircraft veered, off course, and crossed over the Kamchatka Peninsula into the Soviet Union. The peninsula housed a top-secret military installation and fighter pilots were sent to intercept the plane. The Soviet Union makes claims that it had tried to communicate with the plane and when they received no response, the fighter pilot fired two missiles: a heat seeking missile and a radar guided missile. It is unclear which missile struck the plane or if both missiles struck the plane, but the plane went down into the Sea of Japan and all 269 passengers and crew members were killed.

In the aviation community, the airlines are the ones left to feel the negative effects of these terroristic attacks. Logan (n.d.) explains that airlines had a 30 percent loss in demand with the initial shock of the attack of 9/11 (para. 2).
Hazards pose risk to everyone. Our acceptance of the risks associated with hazards dictates where and how we live. As humans, we accept a certain amount of risk when choosing to live our daily lives. From time to time, a hazard becomes an emergent situation. Tornadoes in the Midwest, hurricanes along the Gulf Coast or earthquakes in California are all hazards that residents in those regions accept and live with. This paper will examine one hazard that caused a disaster requiring a response from emergency management personnel. Specifically, the hazard more closely examined here is an earthquake. With the recent twenty year anniversary covered by many media outlets, the January 17, 1994, Northridge, California earthquake to date is the most expensive earthquake in American history.
International and domestic aviation industries exhibit large changes in political environments, affecting mannerisms of customer travel (asse.org, 2017). Aviation bodies, including International Air Transport Association (IATA , 2017), regulating international air transport, and Civil Aviation Authority (CASA, 2017), regulating Australian air services, have authority in ensuring execution of the correct practices and procedures. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC, 2017), ensures government regulations, trade agreements, and taxation laws are executed. International political trade relationships, affect passenger numbers travelling between countries, and political instability affects Qantas revenues (Kaivanto & Zhang, 2017).
8. Boeing should have made a well thought marketing strategy in order to have this project a huge success. They should have made the business and marketing plan for the carriers themselves to reach the end customers. Because they were dependent on the carrier to think of the strategy, they lost the view of the end customer.
