Siblings should always there for each other, willing to drop anything to help one another. Having a strong bond between siblings is one that can never be replaced. Even through tough times, siblings can overcome their differences. Most importantly, siblings provide each other with a built-in best friend. These are all important principles for a good sibling. I believe I am a good sister because I fit the criteria for what every sibling should meet. First, I am a good sister because I am always there for my sisters, no matter what. Siblings should drop anything to help one another, and that is a quality I can proudly say I possess. According to Penn State professors Mark Feinberg and Susan McHale, and graduate student Anna Solmeyer, children with siblings feel more supported and cared for. I provide my sisters with love and support in any situation. No matter what the situation, they know they can be honest with me and I will not abandon them. For me, having sisters is a wonderful blessing because I feel like I will always have someone by my side. My sisters know I am always there for them, and I believe that qualifies me as a good sister. In addition, I would qualify myself as a good sister because I have helped influence how my sisters have evolved into great people. Siblings have a huge influence on how each other’s personality develops and help to mold them as a person. According to Jeffrey Kluger, a writer for TIME, there has always been an argument regarding what is actually the most influential in shaping an individual. Many scientists believe our parents or even our genes are what shapes us the most. Kluger believes the bond between siblings only grows stronger with age (“The Science of New Siblings”). I greatly agree with him on this statement. My sisters and I have grown closer with every year. Whether we are shopping or watching movies back to back, I help flourish a close bond between my sisters and I. My sisters and I share closeness I will never find with anyone else, and I can only hope our bond continues to grow. In summary, Sisters should provide each other with many important characteristics. I am always for my sisters, giving them a trusting relationship and helping to shape them as a person. No matter what, I make sure my sisters and I overcome our differences and provide each other with a built-in best friend. All of these qualifications are what make up a good sibling. I believe I fit these specific criteria, qualifying me as a great sister.
My sister is the individual I go to when I require somebody to converse with, the person who is dependably there and recognizes what to say. My more established sister has affected who I am by showing me the estimation of pride and diligent work and like whatever other more seasoned sister she has been a good example. It seems that every sibling doesn’t always have a great relationship with their older or younger siblings. In the movie “Real Women Have Curves”, we have two sisters, Anna and Estella,who seem not to get along in the beginning because of their differences, but at the end they become the best of friends because they have similar dreams and learn to support each other. The advantage of Anna and Estella’s relationship is that they benefit from each other. The whole story is that you don’t always realize how much you have in common with your siblings until you realize that you have similar dreams and can be there for each other.
Many of us who have siblings would agree that it could be frustrating getting along with your sisters or brothers, well imagine trying to get along with a person who was born from the same womb on the same day. Many of you might think, “Wow, I would love to be a twin! Someone to always be there for me.” Although, it might be nice always having a playmate growing up, and getting to experience life with one another, instead your childhood consists of rivalry, trying to prove you are your own person.

I always thought I would never want a little sister, because of such a huge burden. But tables turned and I now have a god-sister. Ever since then me and her have gotten really close. I really enjoy her company, and she is just like my real sister. She is usually over at our house more then any of my friends come over. In a way I do take responsibility for her. She is around me a lot, and I know that I can't set a bad example. I think she might look up to me, and for that I feel responsible for her care.

I grew up the oldest of four; this meant that I was placed as the example for my younger siblings. When I was younger I thought this was just about the worst thing ever, I felt like it was a lot of pressure to be there for them and do/say the best thing. This lead to a lot of anger and depression for me, those feelings eventually brought me to really hate my role as a sister and a role model. My brothers and sister are the best motivation to me. It is not every day that we get along but when we do then it is a good day. Every day they make me want do better, not only for myself but for my mom and them also. They encourage me to do better now so that my future is bright later on. Family is always the best to have on your team especially for their support because they genuinely mean it and you know that it is coming from their heart. I know I can count on all my brothers and sister to be there for me when no one else is because they are family. I hate that they are growing every day and getting older to experience the real life. Growing up with two older brothers taught me to be unselfish, patient, and respectful. Being the youngest of three, I learned I would not always get what I wanted. I would have to be patient and wait my turn for a lot of things, such as the telephone and bathroom. I was glad that I was able to grow up with siblings to teach me these lifelong lessons. All three of us had to be respectful of each other or we would risk getting in trouble with my parents.
