When people think about fireworks, they usually think about the Fourth of July. All over the country, people celebrate the independence of the United State of America with fireworks. It is fun to take the whole family out at night to experience a beautiful show and the patriotism surrounding it. What many people do not realize is that fireworks can be used for many different occasions year round.

Fireworks are not just for the Fourth of July. The second biggest holiday of the year for fireworks is New Year's Eve. There is no better way to usher in the New Year than with the bright optimism and joy that fireworks can provide. Even in the winter, people are willing to stand outside to watch the exhibition. For most people, New Year's Eve and the Fourth of July are the only times they will experience such an event.

Any event looking for a memorable finish is appropriate for a pyrotechnic display. Weddings, birthdays and smaller holidays would all be great chances to put on a show. It is possible to buy fireworks year-round for all types of events. Detroit has many stores that can help a person find the right type of firework for their needs.

The phrase firework was not used until the late 1700s during the first Independence Day celebration. Before that time they were referred to as rockets. This history is one reason why the most popular style of pyrotechnic projectile is still the rocket. Rockets are propelled by the jet of flame created when the flammable ingredients are exposed to a heat source. They are designed to travel as far as possible while burning as bright as possible. The term firecracker actually refers to the noisy pyrotechnics that display a shower of sparks.

Keep a distance between the fireworks and the guests so there are no accidents requiring a trip to the emergency room. It is imperative that children are supervised at all times whenever there is a risk of being burned.

There are a few more safety considerations to keep in mind when dealing with combustible entertainment. Directions on the packaging should always be followed exactly. Safety is paramount when dealing with any kind of explosive and fireworks are no exception. It is important to have a fire extinguisher nearby in case of an accident. Ensure there is nothing flammable near a burning firework. If the correct safety precautions are taken, fireworks are a wonderful addition to any celebration.
