Fireworks
When thinking of fireworks, many peoples first instinct is to picture bursts of color accompanied by the loud noises of the explosions. Not many people think of what all goes into the production of a firework and how it works. But then again, why would you when you could be enjoying a beautiful firework display? Exactly, you wouldn’t. Let me tell you a little bit about what goes into fireworks and why you see what you see. It will make you appreciate the fireworks even more than you already do.
The technical definition of a firework is “a device containing gunpowder and other combustible chemicals that causes a spectacular explosion when ignited”. In simpler terms it is something that has chemicals in it and when lit on fire makes a beautiful explosion.
There is still so much more to a firework than that, the producers of fireworks don’t just throw chemicals into a little tube, light it on fire and throw it into the air. There are a lot of flammable chemicals involved, and in order for fireworks to be pretty they have to put the right chemicals together and they have to be exactly the right amounts too.
There are four main chemical ingredients that go into fireworks in order for them to work the way that they do; fuel, an oxidizing agent, some type of colorant in which there is a metal, and a binder (Antonis). All of this is found inside of the aerial shell, this is where all of the chemical reactions take place. Once the substances are ignited, the fuel and the oxidizing agent react with each other and this reaction causes intense heat and gasses (Antonis). In the middle of the shell a charge with a fuse on top will explode because of the high temperatures and gasses emitted from the previously stated reaction (A...

... grass and trees are already extremely dry people say that having their homes greatly out weighed the spectacular show of the fireworks (NYT).
I think that if the people behind fireworks could form a way to enhance them in a way that the risk of fires being started was lowered significantly then they would be a lot better. All of the things put into fireworks are pretty cool and its amazing how they work and how scientists have figured out what chemicals make each color. But having fireworks when you cannot use them because they may start a fire is not any fun.
I used to think of fireworks and think that they were like magic. I never put any logic into it. Now that I know what goes into them, and how they work, I think they are pretty awesome. You never really appreciate how much work goes into something until you know what it takes; you take things for granted.
Colored fire is a common pyrotechnic effect used in movies, fireworks and by fire performers all over the world. Generally the color of the flame may be red, orange, yellow, or white, and is controlled by blackbody radiation from soot and steam. When additional chemicals are added to the fire, the flame would appear a different color according to the other chemicals. Flame coloring is also a good way to show how chemicals change when heated and how they change the matter around them.
The burning of the materials is a complex process. Combustion of any material requires three components: heat, oxygen and combusting material or fuel. When heat is applied to the composites materials, temperature of the materials increases. At particular temperature, pyrolysis temperature, materials start to decompose, and produce
Fire setting often begins with the child being curious as to what happens when you make a fire, but then it becomes a way for the child to deal with stress and anger. It is an act of “speaking out” because the child feels as if no one is listening and wants attention. This characteristic/behaviour could become more dangerous if the child keeps feeling the need to relieve stress/anger through setting fires, because the child will start setting bigger fires and experimenting with fires more.
This explains why St. Elmo’s Fire shows up on pointed objects because the fire is made up of plasma. Plasma is created when lightning atoms build up enough charge along their way down. If the masts (or pointed object) provides a strong electric field, the plasma will be created easier there because the strong force pulls electrons away from the atom. That is why the Elmo’s fire are on the pointed objects.

When the four components of the fire tetrahedron are brought together, ignition occurs. For a fire to grow beyond the first material ignited heat must be transmitted by conduction, convection, or radiation, to additional fuel packages. In the early stages of a fire, heat rises to form a plume of hot gas and products of combustion. Fires in compartments are more complex than those in the open (IFSTA, 2013). In a compartment the plume is affected by the walls and ceiling. As the hot gases rise , they begin to spread outward until they reach the walls. Once the gases reach the walls they are confined and the depth of the gas layer increases from the ceiling towards the floor. If enough fuel and oxygen is available the fire continues to grow, and the overall temperature of the compartment and gas layer increases. The temperatures increase to a point when all combustible materials in the room have reached their own ignition temperatures. Flashover occurs when these materials ignite almost spontaneously. Once ignited and all combustibles in the compartment are burning the fire is said to be fully developed. The fire begins to decay
It 's a nice day in July, the third, the day before all of the excitement. Families are out and about standing in lines wrapped around the store buying kerosene for their grills. Of course you can’t forget the Hotdogs, hamburgers, buns, jello, cake, icecream and popsicles. Any kind of food you could ever want and most in the color red white or blue. People are flocking to the firework stands to buy as many of the biggest and baddest fire works they have to offer. Kids spending there allowance on rockets, snakes, poppers, parachutes, and smoke bombs. Fourth of July is almost in full swing just a few more things before the big party. While all of these people are running around like ants in a frenzy swarming to the melted ice cream cone on the hot pavement. My aunt, uncle, and cousins are at their house preparing for the big party an annual fourth of july
Every year, America celebrates many holidays with fireworks. One of the most popular selections is a Roman Candle. If you want to try to make this at home, common pyrotechnics stores have all the supplies you would need. Just think of the “oohhs” and “ahhhhs” when you light off your homemade fireworks at home.
A driver is distracted physically and visually when they opt to use their cell phone when driving. “Physical distraction is when drivers have to use one or both of their hands to hold the phone, dial a number, or end a call instead of focusing on the tasks required by driving” (Ahmad Ba-Masq 3). Not using a turn signal, being unable to shift gears, and not having both hands on the steering wheel leads to physical distractions. Driving requires two hands on the wheel, but when a driver chooses to only use one hand they are putting themselves and other drivers into greater danger. When driving with one hand on the wheel driver...
The first fire engines, which appeared in the 17th century, were very simple, they consisted of tubes on runners, long poles, or wheels. Most fire fighting consist of applying water to the burning material. Cooling it to the point at which combustion is no longer possible (“fighting”). A fireman's job is to make the building that is on fire be not on fire and extinguish the fire. The engines were used at every fire and they were one of the most useful tools they had at the time. Back in the 17th century technology was not advanced enough to get the job done but now we have many options and tools to help
New technologies that are interactive are increasingly becoming sources of distractions, and people are becoming more focused to devices resulting to reduced focus on the roads when behind the wheel. This distracted driving is becoming an alarming issue on the roads.
Over the years, the growth in technology used in to educate about fire safety has increased greatly. We now have many different ways to reach people of all ages. Some of this information includes: increased importance of the smoke detector, fire safety houses, fire safety videos, educational websites, high school cadet programs, and fire education equipment. All of these are very helpful and successful ways of teaching about fire safety.
Everything is going as planned and the wind was helping us clean out the cannon. Although, this corroboration did not last long. The drizzle was getting the inside of the cannon wet and more carbon was gathering inside the cannon. Eventually, we could not fire it as quicky as we needed to. So, we tried to clean it with a rag and blow into the chamber to get the carbon out and let oxygen in. As we came up to the booth were the camera was place to see the floats pass by, I made the decision to fire the cannon as we pasted the camera. We tried to clean the cannon as fast as we can, but the camera was coming up quick. So, I put it back in position and filled it with Axe spray and tried to light it, but the cannon said enough. I tried to fire it the way we always did, but it would not ignite. The announcer called our float’s name and we had to spot light, and I tried to light the cannon as fast as I can. I removed the cap from the chamber and lit the axe directly, needless to say, I should not have done that. When I light the Axe, the flames went back to me instead of out the barrel. It caused a fireball to come directly to me, and the decorations around me. It was not a huge fire, but it was indeed noticeable, and right in front of the camera.
Firefighters are the first person called out at a point of explosion or traffic accidents to protect life. Firefighters work under very dangerous conditions they protects others life by putting themselves in danger. They are the person who needs physical strength, stamina, good body physique. When talking about fire, it’s basically divided into two main parts:
Fire begins with an idea of a spark. Then the spark is made and with the
