Vision is the sense that let people have fun by seeing things and how other people look like so they can judge who is beautiful and who's not. Some people don't know how important vision is. Actually, I'm one of those people who didn't know how important vision was so I used my eyes pretty much and lost most of my eyesight. I used to watch TV everyday, play pc games and stay up late until I get tired. Now, I regret for what I?ve done to my eyes and hopes I can bring back my vision. What really bugs me about that is when my teacher asks me to answer or read something on the board, I can?t read it so students and the teacher think that I don?t know the answer. I used lots of things to help me see better such as, eye contact and glasses but didn?t work with me because I got dizzy every time I wore them, therefore, I looked for another way because I couldn?t live with that poor vision. One day, I?ve heard some people talking about a surgery that can help people see better which called LASIK. Many people rush to have the surgery because they just know about the advantages that they can get from it, however, they don?t know that the surgery can cause some problems and make their vision worse than it was.
You need to know how your eyes work and some important thing before you start reading about the eye surgery which is the LASIK. Have you ever wanted to know how the eyes work and why people have two eyes instead of one? The eyes like a wonderful kind of camera because they take pictures and pictures of any place you look at then send them to the brain. The brain starts working on those pictures from the moment you open your eyes until the moment you close them. And as to why we have two eyes, simply, we need two eyes because they provide us with stereo vision and depth perception. We can?t have that with just one eye. Have you known that your eyes work similar to your camera? When you look at something, the light passes through your lenses of your eyes and recorded on the back of your eyes which called the retina, it is like a movie screen which shows the picture you are seeing.

The pictures that your eyes take are upside down. Now, you?re are probably wondering why you don?t see things upside down. Well, after your eyes send the pictures to your brain, your brain do the job and flip the pictures so you see the pictures the right way up.
LASIK surgery is one of the refractive eye surgeries that help people who have weak vision. Some of the advantages that you can get from this surgery are the immediate results in less time, freedom from corrective eyewear, new career opportunities, more confidence and pride. The fast results and the time are important for some people who dislike doing surgeries that take more than a month to be finished. Most people nowadays care about having their vision corrected in the same day. The procedure of the LASIK surgery takes about 30 minutes so people who want to have the perfect vision in one day should have the LASIK surgery. The LASIK surgery can also help you to get rid of the eyewear that might cause some people dizziness and nausea. Also, as I said before, LASIK correct the vision so when people take off their glasses and have good vision, they might feel more confidant and free because there?s nothing covering their eyes or because they are no more different from other people who have twenty ? twenty vision. For example, I tried to use glasses when I was in high school but I felt like I?m different from other students in the class because they were not wearing glasses like me. It was hard for me to overcome that problem so I decided to take off the glasses and not wear them any more. One of the advantages that make people want to have the surgery is when they have the LASIK surgery and get good vision, they might have many opportunities to have good jobs that require excellent eye sight. Also, I?ve done a survey as to how many people feel uncomfortable and unconfident when someone ask them to read but they can?t because of their weak vision. The result show that most people have a problem communicating with other people because they feel shy or unconfident while they are wearing the glasses but other people not. The LASIK surgery can solve their problem and makes them more proud and comfortable talking to people and be part of the community.
However, LASIK surgery has some disadvantages that people should consider before they do the surgery. Some of the problems that people should bear in mind are that the surgery is usually not covered by insurance policies, a person may require reading glasses during midlife, the high cost of the surgery, the surgery is technically complex so it?s dangerous. Why don?t insurance companies cover the LASIK surgery? The reason for that is because its cost is very high and because the surgery is voluntary or elective procedure. Even though you have eye insurance, most plans will not cover the LASIK surgery. Most insurance companies view vision correction surgery procedures is cosmetic rather than functional so if you want to have the surgery you have to pay for it. One of the problems that might occur after having the surgery is when you get older you might be required to wear reading glasses again!. Now, here we come to the cost of the surgery that I think most people have problem with. The cost or the surgery can be higher than $2500 per eye! People can buy more than ten glasses with that lot of money. In addition, the surgery is really complex to do so when a doctor wants to do the surgery, he or she should be ready and careful with other people eyes. (getlasikeyesurgery.info)
In conclusion, as you read before that the LASIK surgery has some advantages and disadvantages, therefore, when it comes to do the surgery or not, the person should think carefully and ask doctors before he or she have it so there will not be any problems.
