Pop Culture's Influence on Teenagers

Pop culture, a phenomenon, that has taken root all across the nation. The misleading term "culture contact" doesn't begin to express the dramatic effects of changes brought by outsiders the shock of "contact" has taken many forms, initially, at least, to indigenous people just the physical presence of outsiders was shocking. As Northrop Frye would put it, “Popular art is normally decried as vulgar by the cultivated people of its time; then it loses favor with its original audience as a new generation grows up; then it begins to merge into the softer lighting of ''quaint,'' and cultivated people, interested in it and finally it begins to take on the archaic dignity of the primitive.” In order to limit culture's destructive influence, society must utilize effective parental guidance, technological applications, and maturity.

Parents need to take notice of the language of popular culture demonstrates. This is very concrete and nearly inescapable for teenagers, when watching television, playing video games, or even surfing the Internet. Thus, the question comes to light, Could pop culture influence subliminally? Popular culture consists of very little creativity or uniqueness these days, like piece of white paper everything showed or told can turn into a copy. Parents stand as the first line of defense, even before walking out the door for school or any activities, it fall on parental guidance to supervise the clothing and actions displayed by the student. Common sense would tell if something is with this picture, coming down the stairs with shorts as high as tree. Do you think anyone outside the parental zone is responsible to correct the problem? To help create their status of grandeur, they have the three P’s: Property, power and prestige. Thus, it makes sense to understand what is necessary to listen to and follow by your own standards, no what pop culture has perceived.

Popular culture in America often uses narrative, despite the relativity of these terms in today’s world, it transforms into every crook and cranny its’ able to fit in. If teenager’s exposure is limited, than the “Influence” wouldn't have such a profound impact in our society? Addressing the issue head on will have beneficial advantages.
