Corruption has always been a problem built into institutions that hold power. Corruption is unavoidable in institutions that delegate the power. It would come with no surprise that every country has an institution which distributes or delegates the decisions that the country takes which in other words gives them power. One institution that could be used as an example of corruption would be the Dominican Government. Dominican Republics is known for being a third world country, for its poverty, culture, and for its corrupt government.
There are countries that are not as lucky as America, where people have their rights taken away from them, like in Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea has a very corrupt government. It has been said that the voting has been rigged so that the president will win the election as many times as he wants. Most of the power is in the executive branch, so the president has most of the power of the country and no one can say anything about what he wants to happen. From the slight corruption and oppression in Liberia’s government to the unstableness resulting in two coups, to the current chaotic, unfortunate, state, Liberia has experienced some of the most unthinkable events in their government’s history. In the early stages of Liberia’s corrupt, unstable, government, events such as the fraudulent elections of 1927, the rice riots, and the birth of many protest groups would hinder Liberia’s chance of democracy, equality, and fairness in their government. In 1927, an election was held to replace, the current president, Daniel Edward Howard. King’s presidential success was a great scandal due to the fact that he said to have had 234,000 votes, meanwhile, there are only 15,000 registered voters in Liberia.

Outside of Kenya’s cities and towns lies many samples of natures beauty. Unfortunately, the people living in this land are troubled by their struggle with the government and trying to form a democracy. Matthew Carotenuto stated, “Much of the world had historically viewed Kenya as an island of peace and economic potential in a roiling sea of stateless chaos.” What he means is that people have long seen Kenya as a peaceful place that is surrounded by countries suffering from all sorts of violence and unfortunate circumstances. What many people do not know is that Kenya has a long history for political violence going way back to when the country was colonized. Understanding that Kenya’s past violence was due to their struggle for social and political authority helps us understand some of their violence issues today.
