I found this project to be quite intimidating considering I have zero creativity. Also nor do I have any artist talent. Thu, this project was a learning experience for me. I decided that my project would take form in a video. I decided this partially because I’m incredibly self-conscious, shy and presenting is one of my biggest fears, but also because I thought it would look good. I wanted to focus on personal identity because it was the section of the course I most enjoyed. When discussing personal identity in class I couldn’t help but remember every show I’d ever watched the portrayal of each of the views on it. That’s when I decided that my video would be a video mix/ collage of clips from the media 's portrayal of personal identity. I …show more content…
The opening scene is a clip from YouTuber Hank Green asking the main questions asked when talking about personal identity . He is yelling, “How do I know who I am”, “what makes me “, “ Am I the same person I was when I went to sleep” and “who am I”. I thought this was a great way to start of the video because not only is he asking the questions people have on this subject matter, he is also showing the way people feel about it. The way he is yelling sort expresses the want and need for answers to questions of identity. The clip also fits perfectly with the topic of personal identity. In class, we discussed that in personal identity you always question what makes you the same person you are over time. So I really liked that Hank asked you know how do I know that I am the same person that went to sleep last night. I also think I chose it because he was showing a lot of emotion in it. I wanted to get people rattle up with the clip. I wanted them to want to watch the rest of the video to see if the questions were …show more content…
This clip is quite interesting because she says “ how do I put “ in response to the interviewers question and just basically stares for a couple of seconds. I thought this would be an interesting follow-up to the clip of hank asking who he is because it 's such a hard question to answer. There are many views on personal identity and it’s not black or white. It’s very up to interpretation depending on people’s personal beliefs. So I found that the clip of lady gaga being at a loss for words fitting to the topic. In between both these clips I used a transition to make the clips flow better. So it didn’t just look like two random clips that were chopped off. The transition I used was one of the old film countdowns. So basically it counts down to the start of the next clip. I used this transition for all sections of the video. I wanted the transitions to make the video interesting and keep my fellow classmates interested. Also in order maintain interest the rest of the clips are set to the song Indian Summer by Jai Wolf with Voiceovers by yours
Select and identify TWO concepts presented in the video you find significant as an early educator and explain why you selected these concepts (7 descriptive/detailed sentences)
I really enjoyed this video. It's crazy the amount of informaton that gets packed into a three minute video. I think the cartoon and music that accompanies it helps because you're being entertained as well as informed. I think it's easier for me to remember a fun fact from the video versus reading a whole chapter from a book.
making. By constantly asking what it means to be human, the film speaks to society’s
The driving question in this project is, “How can the choice of individuals cause revolutions?”. This project needed to include a news segment about a certain event in the revolutionary war, everyone had to have a role in the video, and it needed to have a script before hand. The video needed to be 1-2 minutes long, and had to be as realistic as possible. It also had to include a bibliography at the end of the video. The first thing we did was make a paper timeline of all the important events in the revolutionary war. Then, we got our specific event and made posters to share with the class on the event. Next, we made a basic storyboard of the ideas for the video. Then, we had to start making a script for our video. Finally, we practiced and
Throughout life, a person can expect to endure many challenges, trials, experiences, accomplishments and disappointments. How one recovers, from those challenges, and can set the lifespan is a lifelong process from birth to death and includes the formation of identity (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). I will cover in the paper six life events that influence my identity development from childhood to middle adulthood. Each life event will be explained based on the significance of the event as well as the impact the event had on my development. Also, theories will be discussed as they relate to my development.
Identity, an ambiguous idea, plays an important part in today’s world. To me identity can be defined as who a person is or what differentiates one person from another. Identity would be a person’s name, age, height, ethnicity, personality, and more. A quote by Anne Sexton states “It doesn't matter who my father was; it matters who I remember he was”(Anne Sexton). This quote helps me define identity because I believe it is saying that identity is what people are remembered by. When some people think of identity, words such as, uniqueness, distinctiveness, or individuality may come to mind. However, I disagree with this because when I think of identity I think of mimicry, self-consciousness, or opinions.
I think the video was well presented. It tells us about Harper Lee's life and how she became a writer. Living
This film explores identity in an isolated way, with only two characters who are very different. The concept of identity is always changing, and has been for the past few decades as people become more knowledgeable and creative in the social aspect of life. Alma and Elisabet’s relationship shows psychological effects of isolation, and having a split personality disorder, both of which create tension between our characters while showing a reliance on the other.
People identify themselves using not only qualities within them, but through culture and family as well. Through these few examples, it is easy to see some of the foundations that can foster an entire, complex identity. It is understandable how interesting and varied humans can be, drawing from so many directions to build who they are. Identity is not very complex at all, it comes through living day to day.
The quest to find one’s identity and have a sense of individuality is rampant in Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go. The humanistic urge to have purpose is embodied in the characters of Kathy, Tommy and Ruth very differently. They each know that their life’s purpose is to donate until “completion,” yet on the way there they explore themselves and find out there is more to each of them than their vital organs, even if that is how society has labeled them.
A person’s identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person’s identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person’s sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person’s taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet on the string of their puppet-master, nor a chess piece on their master’s game board, individuals choose their own paths in life. They accomplish, or strive to accomplish, goals that they have set for themselves throughout their lifetime. Individuals are different from any other individual in the world because they live their own life rather than following a crowd of puppets. A person’s identity is defined by what shaped it in the first place, why they chose to be who they are, and what makes them different from everybody else in the world. I feel that I have developed most of my identity from my own dreams, fantasies, friends, and idols.
In this reflective paper, I discuss several aspects of my race, ethnicity, and culture that has made me who I am, and impacted my overall individual identity.
I ended up really liking the poems that we listened to and when I got home that night I decided to listen to them again. I did this, because there are always things you miss the first time. So, the second time I listened to the videos the metaphors the poets used really influenced me. The poem that Sarah Kay wrote, “If I Should Have a Daughter”, let me know to never give up no matter how hard life gets. It taught me to set my goals high and never take no for an answer.
Both videos are portraying the same message. This message is basically saying “Save the planet, or else.” Both videos use displays of different parts of the earth, with a voice as nature. The difference is that Henry Ford is “The Ocean,” and Julia Roberts is, “Mother Nature.” Both are speaking to humans and using threats and facts to scare the viewer to want to take better care of earth. Henry Ford threatens that he will cover the earth again with the ocean again like it was before. Julia Roberts threatens that she can starve us. She states, “I have fed species greater than you, and I have starved species greater than you.” Both are using the pathos effect. With the voices, they do differ in tone. Harrison was graveling and was more mincing/threatening. It was comparable to Bisidan, also known as god of the ocean. He sounded more so annoyed, rugged and monotone than Roberts was. Roberts was more of a powerful tone. Both of the two used the logos approach in stating that they are both wise because of how long they have been on the
The philosophical problem of personal identity pertains to questions that arise about ourselves by virtue of our being persons. There is no single question that will sum up the problem, but rather a multitude of questions that are loosely connected to each other. Within this essay, the four most prominent problems will be explained and addressed. One of the most familiar is the question of “Who am I?” This regards to what makes one a unique individual. Another familiar question is, “What is it to be a person?” This concerns the necessary criteria for something to count as a person as opposed to a non-person. There is also the problem of persistence, relating to personal identity over time. An example of this would be to glance upon an old photograph of a childhood class, point and say, “That's me.” The questions arises of, “What makes you that one instead of one of the others?” The last problem to be explained is the one of evidence. How do we find out who is who? There are two separate sources of evidence used often in philosophy: first-person memory, pertaining to one remembering an action or event and therefore being the person who did such, and physical continuity, where if the one who performed the action or witnessed the event looks like you, then it is you.
