Kinesiology: Helping People Live A Healthy Life
Kinesiology is the study of human movement also known as human kinetics. There are many types of careers in kinesiology, they include being a personal trainer, nursing, and coaching. All these jobs consist of helping people get to or get back to a physically healthy state. A personal trainer will help a person usually one on one to build up a healthy lifestyle by working out consistently and eating healthy to give the body the nutrients it needs to live a healthy life. The American Nurses Association states, “Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations” (American Nurses Association). Coaches don’t only teach their players the sport they are playing but work ethic, dedication, and enthusiasm which help throughout their lives even if they don’t follow a career in the sport. Patterson states that, “44 percent of the nation’s school administrators have cut significant amounts of time from physical education, arts and recess so that more time could be devoted to reading and mathematics since the passage of No Child Left Behind in 2001” (Patterson). Recently physical education has become more focused on and kids are getting more exercise in their days, but it is still not where it should be. Not having enough money to pay these teachers is one problem getting in the way of a healthier America. Another problem would be schools focusing too much on academics and not having enough time in the day for kids to have their amount of exercise. These problems are being fixed and hopefully we can have a healthier country so kids can live a longer and healthier
