We live in a world where our society is unfair, curl and shameful. There are many people who live their lives on a high of spending, overusing and wasting with no idea just how lucky they are. Then there is the middle class; the people who just get by in life, they can afford what they need with some extra things at times. Then there is the poor, the homeless and the lower class group of individuals. They are a group of our world who are barely able to survive each and every day, let alone waste money on things such as extravagant cars, expensive clothing, fine wines etc… Economic inequality is an awful thing in our world today, and it worst part of it all is that it doesn 't have to be happening. Changes in labour markets are especially harmful for todays young adults. With their work, careers starting later and their earnings falling (106) it is resulting in hard times and even debt. Along with it being is the beginning of their lives these individuals are in for a lifetime of financial struggles. Changes in families are another large reason for economic inequality with both positive and negative results. Single parent families result in low income families due to only one income as well as having to support children. This is leading to extremely dangerous consequences such as child poverty. Families who choose not to have children, however, are facing a much easier financial time. They often have more money to spend on extra material items such as extravagant houses and expensive cars due to the fact that as everyone knows children are very expensive and on the point of choosing not to have them they do not have to put any money towards them. These however are just the causes of the economic inequality between the middle class and the upper class. The major economic inequality issue is between the lower class societies in developing countries and the richest of the world. People just care about the Benjamins, the moolah, the cash, the dough— but is it really essential to the human existence, or does society just accept the systematic oppression that comes with the dog-eat-dog nature of our economic system since it benefits the people on top? Monetary gains are all well and good; however, when does it commence to overtake our lives and when does it become our end goal? Instead of relying on money for food, shelter and our overall well-being, society views it as a tool that gives them power over other people, thus putting one’s economic status on a pedestal and making life a difficult competition. Briefly state the main idea of this article: The main idea of this article is that economic inequality has steadily risen in the United States between the richest people and the poorest people. And this inequality affects the people in more ways than buying power; it also affects education, life expectancy, living conditions and possibly happiness. Another idea that he brought up was that the American government tends to give less help to the unemployed than other rich countries.
There is also the damage that the inequality does to the society and the government. Thomas Jefferson once said, “The small landholders are the most precious part of a state.” Today that would mean that the middle class is the most important part of our society, however, the farther we move into the future the weaker the middle class becomes (Krugman, 587). The America that we live in is unequal in income and social aspects. The rich do not live the same lives as those that are less fortunate, and the less fortunate do not get to enjoy the perks that come with the lives of the rich people.

One social problem that has caught my attention is racial inequality. Racial inequality refers to the racial advantages and disadvantages among different races. These might be shown in the appropriation of riches, influence, and life openings stood with individuals in view of their race or ethnicity, both noteworthy and cutting edge. These can be viewed therefore of noteworthy abuse, imbalance of legacy, or general partiality, particularly against minority bunches. Race inequality is not a new issue, just an issue that has been swept under the rug. It was more of a problem during and after segregation, but is reportedly no longer exist.
Wealth inequality is a real issue that needs to be fixed. The imbalanced growth of the upper class compared to the middle class is a danger to American society as a whole. The rich becoming richer while the middle class remains the same leads to a power imbalance, with the rich using their money to run the country the way they see fit while the middle class speaks to ears that do not listen. The issue of wealth inequality needs to be fixed by raising taxes on the rich.

He stands to advocate a change in American economic policies that will help close this inequality gap and considers institutional and tax reforms that should be developed to counter it. Being born into an economically disadvantaged family causes dilemmas before the kid is even born. According to Gulick, “Economically disadvantaged students have it tougher before they are born because they have less prenatal care if any at all” (1). Because the babies do not even have the care they need before they are born they end up being born with things that aren’t good. “Children born into poverty have lower birth weights, and many suffer from hunger and poor nutrition. When the youth suffer from poor nutrition and low birth rates it causes many complications for the hospital staff, the babies family, and causes stress on whoever pays the medical bill because the baby possible has to stay at the hospital longer. Once the kid is born the dilemmas go on and on. So how does being economically disadvantage affect people?
Some believe that classism is so bad that it has moved into full on class warfare. The issue with classism comes from the actual measurable harm it does to someone. Typically classism is more of a purposeful discrimination which has someone planning out how to keep their wealth or social status while stalling or lowering that of someone else. This can be seen in political policies targeted against the poor in favor of the wealthy, or something as simple as denial of a job due to your current living situation. If income inequality continues to grow, the economy will break down. For example, if the housing price continues to rise because of the rich people, poor people will not have a place to live since they cannot afford to buy these expensive houses. When this happens, it will create another housing bubble because the houses are not worth buying, which means the market value of the house exceeds the house’s value; therefore, nobody will buy the house including the riches since they already have houses to live. Moreover, poor people do not believe they can get access to wealth because they cannot afford anything, and they cannot afford the tuition fees for a good education, which is the traditional route to success.
