This assignment was quite interesting as I had a chance to sit down and actually talk with my parents about their specific views and attitudes on several topics. The values that I believe in play a very important role in my life. These important values have been greatly influences by my family. Our parents are the ones who first instilled values into us. As I grew up, where we loving our friends and life experiences helped us refine our own values. My Hispanic Heritage plays an important role in my life. Teens today lacked the simple values of yesterday because of the exposure to the negative things in the world. Family unity is communicating with each other. These family values differ from each other all over the world. We live in a culture where we fear one another, hate each other and even kill each other. How bad do things in our culture have to get before we stop and look at what brought us to this place. I believe a key part of the answer to that question lies in families. Don’t get me wrong there are many great single parents out there. Which was my mother till she met my stepfather. In our family there are no defined roles. My parent both worked to maintain our household when my stepfather came along. I was 10 years old. They both worked together in the home as well, as I can remember my dad cooking and cleaning just as regularly as my mother. I do understand that the man is the head of the house hold traditionally and yes my dad was the head of ours but all decisions made were made jointly by both my parents.
