Community Reflection

Getting admitted to Cal State San Bernardino has had a huge impact in my life. I had to leave my old community and join a new one. A community is people who come together because of various reasons for example a belief, an interest, or a goal. I am now part of a community which I can identify with because in this community all its members share the same goal to succeed. This community is the freshman discourse in Cal State San Bernardino. Although different people with different beliefs reside here we all have that same interest which makes us a community. Joining this community has impacted my life, specifically my goals, values and thought process. I however have also had a positive impact in this community.
Joining the San Bernardino community has impacted my goals and has helped shape me. I am more committed to achieving my goal now and I no longer have to rely on someone to help me get things done. I can now find the resources necessary to complete a given task on my own. For example, I was able to go to the department of Social and Behavioral Sciences for guidance to see the classes I needed to take. I did not have someone go step by step with me to prepare me for my class enrollment. Since I am provided with guidance in my community I am more determined to …show more content…

In particular, I am a part of the freshman discourse here on campus. Because in this large community there are smaller ones integrated such as communities for clubs, sports, or sororities. I can relate to this specific group of people in the community because not matter where we come from we have all left our previous High school life behind and started a new one here. We have joined this community at the same time and have became its newest members. We are barely learning the ways of this community and what it means to be a part of
