Macbeth written by William Shakespeare takes place during the 11th century in Scotland. Macbeth is a highly portrayed nobleman, powerful general, and the thane of Glamis. After receiving the prophecy that he will become king. Macbeth develops a cruel plot to kill King Duncan. While trying to live up to his prophecy, while blinded by the reward at the end, macbeth oversees the potential dangers that lead to his demise. Macbeth is seen as a tragic hero. He compromises his honor and negates moral responsibility to attain power and position which result in his tragic end.

Macbeths makes a series of good decisions that lead to him getting granted the title of the thane of cawdor, but this is when the bad decisions start. Lady Macbeth is the first one to introduce the plot to kill Duncan. Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth that he is the next one inline for the throne and if he kills Duncan he will become the king. Macbeth does not agree with Lady Macbeth’s plan but reminds himself of the witches prophecy and knows that if the first prophecy became true that this one will also. This is the first part of the play where we see Macbeth’s bad decision making after he agrees to kill Duncan. Throughout the act Macbeth is unsure if he should kill Duncan but due to Lady Macbeth’s influential and leader like attitude he is forced to. Lady Macbeth’s plan get started as soon as they invite Duncan for dinner in Macbeth’s castle. After the dinner they invite duncan to spend the night which leads the story closer to the murder. While Duncan is sleeping Lady Macbeth drugs the guards and steals their daggers, she tells Macbeth to go to Duncan’s room and stab him. Macbeth has a brief illusion of a floating bloody dagger pointing at Duncan which starts the series of illusions that Macbeth will encounter throughout the story.

They combine forces and decide to go after Macbeth to finally bring him down. While the troops travel to Macbeth, Macbeth is training his army for the war ahead. When Macduff and Malcolm arrive they tell every soldier to branches out of the trees and put them on to use them as camouflage. Macbeth’s servant come and tells Macbeth the news of the army advancing, Macbeth responds “Go prick thy face, and over-red thy fear, thou lily-liver’d boy. What soldiers, patch?” (4,3,15-16), not believing the servant. When the army finally arrives in front of Macbeth’s castle, Macbeth orders his soldiers to go and kill them. While Macbeth is strong he does the ten thousand english army lead by Siward is stronger. Macbeth decides to go and join the fighting himself. The first character Macbeth encounters is Young Siward which challenges Macbeth but does not stand a chance. Macbeth kills Young Siward and proceeds onward.
