The Lunchbox The Lunchbox is a 2014 Indian film. The movie is about Ila, a housewife and stuck in a dead marriage, who decides to revive her marriage by taking the road that leads to many people’s heart. The stomach. She puts extra effort into a lunch for her husband in order spark their romance again, with the help of some of her aunt’s spices, but the lunchbox ends up going to someone else. Saajan, who is going through grief from losing his wife, receives the lunchbox. They end up communicating and helping each other with their problems through little notes in the lunchbox. This introduces the problem that Ila faces which also cross path with Saajan who has been going through a hard time since his wife died. The scene introduces the main conflict of the story and sets up the entire movie. Ila says, “Aunty the lunchbox is back…it’s completely empty.” I think that women, especially in third world country, care too much, about being married. Ila writes Saajan, “I want to tell you something, every cigarette takes five minutes off your life.” I think that they are both growing attached to each other, because she is offering advice for his health, which shows she cares, and he complies with her wishes. Even in early scenes, she would be so excited when she got a reply back, you could see the happiness she felt.
