The character I choose from the novel Lovely Bones is Mr. Harvey. His role in this novel was that he is a serial Killer. What is a serial killer? A serial killer is someone that killed more than three people over a period more than a month. Mr. Harvey killed Susie the main character in this novel. He rapped her, and cut her body up, and packaged it, and drove 8 miles and dumped it in a sinkhole.. Mr. Harvey doesn't really have a family. His dad abandons his mom after the argument that they next to the car in the streets over truth and consequences in Mexico. His mom was desperate that she taught him how to steal and shoplift. We know that his father was an abusive person. He also taught him about buildings. We know that Mr. Harvey’s life and Susie’s are the not exactly the same. In fact we know its the total opposite. Mr. Harvey never know what love is, since his father was abusive and his mother was a thief. Susie always had a loving family. Her dad and mom loved her and was overly protective. Mr. Harvey’s Profession was building Dollhouses. His success gave him what his father never could. He makes enough to buy a house in the suburbs. He never wanted a family either. He also murders his loving wife , surprise to say that his jealous is a evil lake that when it overcomes him he wants to kill people. In a way that is his hidden feature. I believe that the way he turned out to be right now is all his parents fault. If they were together this would never happen in the first place, well not just together, loyal to each other and loving, caring. What he is now reflects on how his parents were when he was young. Though, Hood and Harvey are both the main characters of the book who coordinate with each other, but there is one big difference that sets them apart. Barker created these personalities between Harvey and Hood to create something the two, good and evil can relate to, and having something that separates them. Likewise, the two thieves they are, there vampiric actions, and how heart in one can overthrow evil.
“The Lovely Bones” is a book written by Alice Sebold. It was published in 2002, and it’s about Susie Salmon, a girl that was murdered and no watches her family and murderer from her own heaven. She tries to balance her feeling and watch out for her family since her murderer is still free and with nobody knowing how dangerous he is. In 2009, a movie adapted from the book came out as well.

The Ones Who Walked Away from Omelas is a short story written by Ursula Le Guin. In her story, Le Guin creates a model Utilitarian society in which the majority of its citizens are devoid of suffering; allowing them to become an expressive, artistic population. Le Guin’s unrelenting pursuit of making the reader imagine a rich, happy and festival abundant society mushrooms and ultimately climaxes with the introduction of the outlet for all of Omelas’ avoided misfortune. Le Guin then introduces a coming of age ritual in which innocent adolescents of the city are made aware of the byproduct of their happiness. She advances with a scenario where most of these adolescents are extremely burdened at first but later devise a rationalization for the “wretched one’s” situation. Le Guin has imagined a possible contemporary Utilitarian society with the goal to maximize the welfare of the greatest number of people. On the contrary, Kant would argue that using the child as a mere means is wrong and argue that the living conditions of the child are not universalizable. The citizens of Omelas must face this moral dilemma for all of their lives or instead choose to silently escape the city altogether.
Mr. Harvey’s vampirism in The Lovely Bones distorts the Salmons’ persistence as well as their inability to accept the reality of Susie’s murder. Mr. Harvey brutally raped and then murdered Susie Salmon in the most violent and indescribable way. “ He felt thoughts of me…my muffled scream…The glorious white flesh that had never seen the sun…then split, so perfectly with the blade of his knife…”(Sebold 50). Through the use of detailed description, it is evident how Harvey splits Susie’s body with his knife as his own way of finding pleasure in killing her violently, and in enjoying the painful sounds of his victim. Also, the serial killer has mastered all the violent variety methods of killing. “Violence…the specific injury…cause characters to visit on another or on themselves…shootings, stabbings …”(Foster 89). Apparently, Harvey has learnt not only to inflict pain on his victims, but to take pleasures in his violent killing methods. Nevertheless, Harvey’s violent act of murder caused great sorrow for the Salmons, and led to their entire denial of Susie’s death. As I continued to read the second half of Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, there were many factors as to why I enjoyed the second half of the book and simply the book overall. Many of the factors that made me enjoy the text was the two climaxes utilized the consistency of the time jump throughout the text. The book has persuaded me to continue reading the trilogy. I believe the unique utilization of the time jump and the consistency of the maliciousness of the text are many reasons why I found the text to be very original and enjoyable.
In the story “The Skeleton” , Ray Bradbury touches on one of society's problems, being satisfied with yourself. 91% of just women alone stated they are unhappy with their bodies during a survey conducted by Statistic Brain Research Institution. Mr. Harris relates to this because he had a distorted perception of his outer skin and his inner skeleton. He tried different methods and different doctors to fix his uncomfortableness with himself, like many people do today. Ray Bradbury exposed the issue of not feeling comfortable in your skin.

The novel is said to be complex, a distant place, and then a time of grieving from a loss of an innocent child who was murdered (Guardian, 1). The view of Heaven presented in The Lovely Bones is where you do not have to worry about anything, you get what you want, and understand why you want it. In this novel, Suzie teaches her family what she had learned from her life. The climax of the novel is when Suzie is able to achieve her dream to grow up when Heaven allows her to inhabit Ruth’s body and then make love Ray (Key Facts, 1). Louise Erdrich’s short story “American horse” is a literary piece written by an author whose works emphasize the American experience for a multitude of different people from a plethora of various ethnic backgrounds. While Erdrich utilizes a full arsenal of literary elements to better convey this particular story to the reader, perhaps the two most prominent are theme and point of view. At first glance this story seems to portray the struggle of a mother who has her son ripped from her arms by government authorities; however, if the reader simply steps back to analyze the larger picture, the theme becomes clear. It is important to understand the backgrounds of both the protagonist and antagonists when analyzing theme of this short story. Albetrine, who is the short story’s protagonist, is a Native American woman who characterizes her son Buddy as “the best thing that has ever happened to me”. The antagonist, are westerners who work on behalf of the United States Government. Given this dynamic, the stage is set for a clash between the two forces. The struggle between these two can be viewed as a microcosm for what has occurred throughout history between Native Americans and Caucasians. With all this in mind, the reader can see that the theme of this piece is the battle of Native Americans to maintain their culture and way of life as their homeland is invaded by Caucasians. In addition to the theme, Erdrich’s usage of the third person limited point of view helps the reader understand the short story from several different perspectives while allowing the story to maintain the ambiguity and mysteriousness that was felt by many Natives Americans as they endured similar struggles. Mrs. Marian Forrester strikes readers as an appealing character with the way she shifts as a person from the start of the novel, A Lost Lady, to the end of it. She signifies just more than a women that is married to an old man who has worked in the train business. She innovated a new type of women that has transitioned from the old world to new world. She is sought out to be a caring, vibrant, graceful, and kind young lady but then shifts into a gold-digging, adulterous, deceitful lady from the way she is interpreted throughout the book through the eyes of Niel Herbert. The way that the reader is able to construe the Willa Cather on how Mr. and Mrs. Forrester fell in love is a concept that leads the reader to believe that it is merely psychological based. As Mrs. Forrester goes through her experiences such as the death of her husband, the affairs that she took part in with Frank Ellinger, and so on, the reader witnesses a shift in her mentally and internally. Mrs. Forrester becomes a much more complicated women to the extent in which she struggles to find who really is and that is a women that wants to find love and be fructuous in wealth. A women of a multitude of blemishes, as a leading character it can be argued that Mrs. Forrester signifies a lady that is ultimately lost in her path of personal transitioning. She becomes lost because she cannot withstand herself unless she is treated well by a wealthy male in which causes her to act unalike the person she truly is.
For my book I chose to read The Body by Stephen King. This novel is about four young boys taking a journey to find a body somewhere in the woods that is at the county line. This story is about more than just four boys going on an adventure its about them becoming closer to each other and learning real life lessons along the way. The four boys are all going into their first year of middle school so this is a time in their life when they learn things that will help them in life.
