In Experience and Education Dewey begins with talking about the difference between a traditional and progressive school. “The rise of what is called new education and progressive schools is of itself a product of discontent with traditional education”(Dewey 18) Dewey argues that the traditional scheme is the one that imposes adult standards. For example, like being able to know how to handle heavy duty work. Dewey argues that in a progressive school one should learn based on experiences and not only by what is on the textbooks and what teachers teach. Towards the end of this chapter Dewey says that there is always going to be a danger in the new education because of the methods. He says they may develop either in a positive and negative, but he also adds on how at the end they both might end up with similar conclusion. I agree with Dewey to a certain extend because every kid has a different way of learning. Just like he mentioned that the new developments could have a positive or negative way.

...was a great philosopher that argued the idea of education in a way that not only involved the teacher but also the student. He argued that in order for the student to be well educated he had to get taught based on the past, future, and present, according to Dewey’s principle of continuity. As well as students learning through experiences, which are inner and outer. Outer experiences being the ones that affect the child through the environment, family, the curriculum, and etc. While, the inner experience being the ones the students get on their own for example their personality. Dewey also argued the importance of individualism and how the teacher should be well aware of the student their teaching and should know the experiences one needs. It may be hard to get to know each and every student but once it is done and it is done the right ways everything would be great.
