At South Carolina Heart Center the number is generated by the Group Practice Management System (GPMS).The system creates and sequence this number in numerical order by the patient’s first encounter with SCHC. The last number created will tell a person how many patients South Carolina were seen at the facility. This number is the same number used in Medical Records and throughout the facility.

Billing Office

1. Describe the relationship between the Billing Office and the heath information
department.

The Billing department have the same access to same information in Medical Records through the electronic health record. The only interaction Billing has with Medical Records (MR) is when there is a problem with documentation such as illegible signature
