Going through this class and learning about each of the different phases was interesting. To go through and see which ones I have personally experienced. When we started to get in late adulthood it was slightly depressing thinking about growing old and the factor of death. Each part of our development we go through will matter when we reach that point in our lives if you think about it in that context. That’s why it is important to know your family history in order to plan for you future and prevent things from happening. It can be a pretty scary time in people’s lives. I can agree with that, during this stage in physical and cognitive development you are constantly stressed and having to make decisions (Rathus, 2015, pg. 277). I have experienced some physical and cognitive development. Since I am in the beginning of this development I can understand something with this but not all. During emerging adulthood emotional and social development are pretty big at this point. Going from a social environment at work, to social environment after work with friends. This is the time when they tell you to go out and enjoy yourself. Learn about yourself and start to separate yourself from you parents being your parents. You are now an adult who needs to make their own decisions (Rathus, 2015, pg. 289-290). I am starting to experience this stuff but since I still live at home it hard to fully understand them. I’ll admit, I do have more freedoms but still have to work around a family schedule verses just worrying about myself. But that comes with going to a community college. I am not to the part about raising a family, being married or starting to settle
