Ideas and Political Results of Civil Disobedience in Gandhi

The film “Gandhi” convey the events of a man becoming a national hero, by eliciting political ideologies, in order to fight the British colonial rule. In order for Indians to gain independence, Gandhi attracted global attention, insisting that his followers become non-violent. The non-violent civil disobedience campaign originated from Gandhi’s experience on the train in South Africa. As Walker discusses the repercussions behind the march, Gandhi does not fear being arrested. He wants to provoke the Indian’s protest against British laws to emphasize that his followers are in control. Gandhi advocated that if the salt came from the Indian sea, every Indian should have the freedom to use it for their needs. Gandhi advocated to free India and if anyone refused, Indians would be sacrificing their lives. Gandhi’s actions further express the spirituality of human goodness of the soul. The legacy of Gandhi’s civil disobedience would later inspire others to voice their concerns about governmental oppression in the years to follow. The results of Gandhi’s civil disobedience grew into a mass Satyagraha. The aftermath of the Salt March led to several boycotts to wear British clothing. Gandhi, himself, weaved his own clothes. He did this to show that the British could no longer continue the tyranny on him or his people. With his efforts, the slavery of the Muslims became a controversial subject.
