Change in Education Education has always been at the core of our society. Education, along with society, continue to not only teach the young community, but model us into so called “civilized citizens”. A civilized citizen, is one who continues to behave and move along the path of human advancement. As a student, the educational systems will teach you the following: what to do, how to act, and how to think. Coming from a student’s perspective, schools are becoming more military based. For example, people within the military wear uniforms. Do all civilized citizens have to wear uniforms? The change in education is not through books, but the attitude of what freedom has allowed in the past years, violence in the school systems.
Education
Creating a learning and safe environment where students can grow through a system the gives them the attention and healthy activities they need to expand their minds. I got a quote from John Gatto in his writing “We Need Less Schools, Not More” he states “education is about discovering the meaning and purpose of oneself” (54). Gatto is illustrating that a working education system should push students towards the path of what they enjoy and what they want to learn so they can understand their meaning and purpose when they graduate and walk off into the world. Building a solution, for education, off of my plan will help structure the educational systems in a unique learning way. Promoting my education system will hopefully make a difference, so people can see the changes that it will make into the future. The whole aspect of my plan is to install knowledge and teach wisdom while accepting students as who they are. This idea branches off of the two philosophers John Gatto and Alfred Whitehead. Their professional outlook on how education should be has allowed me to envision a better future for students for all ages. Smaller classes, but more classes for only a certain number of students to learn will be a must. Also, teaching students of all ages “things to know for the adult life” is a requirement. This will help glue what should be and what is to grow into a question of the past. My plan will create a growth of love for learning for the young generation. This will help all learn to grow and benefit oneself into their own unique ways. Also, this will make every student wake up with a smile while commuting to school and later into their
