She is the immaculate conception, the blessed mother, bearer of our savior and the special patron of our age. She is the most precious, Jesus mother, spoken in the Garden of Agony. Behold my mother, look at her the way I look at her. Let her be a mother to you. I want to give her my heart immaculate heart. A mother isn’t a mother until she gives her heart. She wants all to love one another. I am present always among you. Pray to the blessed mother. She wants you to come into her presence. It’s the mother who loves him in you. It’s Jesus who will lead you to me. Jesus speaks through Mary to you. The voice of the heavenly mother of God that comes down to you. It doesn’t make sense not to love the mother of God. God is the only mediator of Christ Jesus . Jesus mediates the grace. Mary is the mediator through God the father the son and the holy spirit. May Mary and her blessings come onto you. Mary is a reminder of who you dedicate your life to eternity. It’s how much he loves his mother. Mary is the great joy of God made for himself. Its God’s creation to his perfection. He observes she is his bride. His greatest joy is to give her to you. It will please God in a special way. It’s important if you go to Mary for direction and help. According to Donovan Longo’s article “Who Is The Virgen De Guadalupe? A Brief History Of The Saint So Important In Mexican Culture” published in 2014, the Virgin Mary is known by many different titles but they all refer to the same Virgin that the Catholics recognize as the Blessed Mother. The Virgin de Guadalupe is mostly known by her first stunning visitation that she first decided to make Catholics know of her existence. The story of her appearance was said to have occurred on December 9, 1513 in the presence of Juan Diego, who was an Indian that happened to be passing on the area where she appeared. At the moment of her existence Juan Diego was told by the Virgin Mary that she wanted a church to be built at a Hill of Tepeyac that was near Mexico City. The Virgin Mary wanted a church to be built in her honor so she used Juan Diego as messenger, so he could go and tell the Archbishop what she was requesting, but since the Archbishop did not believe Juan Diego about the encounter that he had with the Virgin Mary, he asked for a proof. The Archbishop wanted a proof from the Virgin Mary, so he could prove her identity. The Virgin Mary sent Juan Diego to pick up some flowers and once he did so, she placed them in Juan Diego’s cloak and off he went to give the proof to the Archbishop. During Lily's journey the Black Mary helps change Lily's life by providing structure. The ritual of the Calendar Sisters, Rosaleen, and Lily praying before the Black Mary everyday provides Lily with time to focus on her emotions and thoughts. Structure gives Lily a routine with helps her stay organized. "'I reached out and traced Black Mary's heart with my finger'" (Monk Kidd 164). Lily is able to touch the Black Mary on her second attempt. This gives Lily as physical connection to the Black Mary, which she never had with her real mother. The Black Mary acts like a silent mother towards Lily because Lily can connect with the Black Mary physically, but not as much socially. Lily can relate to the Black Mary socially but only through prayer, which is not as strong of a connection as the physical aspect. In her embracement of the principle as Christ as Mother in the Second placement of Trinity she invokes a mothers unconditional love of her children. We are reminded of the passages in Isaiah of the Lord’s feeding his children as a mother feeds her children at her bosom. Providing the manna they need. This invokes New Testament passages as well as Christ teaches we will be provided manna through Him. In her theology of Motherhood we see Christ as our Mother in his birthing of our new creation and rebirth in our acceptance of Him as Savior during the Passion of crucifixion.

During the course of the novel Mary becomes more vigorous and courageous. She is the one who takes the initiative to save her mother when Caleb loses hope. As the novel progresses she becomes more and more courageous. To sneak around and attack who used to be your best friends and defile the law takes a lot of courage. One of the greatest examples is that she will do anything to save her mother. This is shown when Mary and Caleb kill a lamb to scare Constable Dewart, “A hooded figure jumped out from behind the boulder, but instead of a human face, the head of a sheep stared at constable Dewart” (257).

Over time, she realizes that she must somewhat befriend them in order to survive adequately. In the end, she even appreciates the Indians, and the experiences she has had with them. Her captivity also brings her closer to God, because during every hardship, she turns to her faith to help her through it. Her time with the Indians also gave her the affliction that she had always hoped for. Mary lived in prosperity before, and had too many comforts of the world around her. The journeys with the Indians give her a kind of reality check, because she sees that not everyone lives in prosperity as she did. The biggest lesson that she learns is to “look beyond present and smaller troubles, and be quieted under them, as Moses said, Exodus.xiv.13, Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.”
The story of St. Maximilian Kolbe is one of courage, strength and humility. It takes place during one of the cruelest times in modern history, the Holocaust. To the Nazis, he was just prisoner number 16670 but to the rest of the world he is a hero and a Saint. His devotion to the Blessed Mother, fortitude and perseverance is an example to us all.

What a sensation was made about the Sensation exhibition in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. The focus of Mayor Giuliani’s outcry was the piece “The Holy Virgin Mary” by Chris Ofili. Funny, he didn’t give attention to some of the other outrageous works including the pubescent female mannequins studded with erect penises, vaginas, and anuses, fused together in various postures of sexual coupling, or the portrait of a child molester and murder made from what appears like child hand prints or bisected animals in plexiglass tanks full of formaldehyde. Would it ever have made headlines with a different title, like “Afro-lady”? I don’t think so. I guess targeting religion gets a little too personal. Giuliani said, “You don’t have the right to government subsidy for desecrating somebody else’s religion. If you are a government-subsidized enterprise, then you can’t do things that desecrate the most personal and deeply held views of people in society.” You would think that the government paid these artists, right? It turns out that the show consisted of Charles Saatchi’s privately owned collection VIEWED in a public museum. So what does that mean to you? Well, when I found out that tidbit of information, it didn’t seem so offensive anymore. Taxpayers didn’t pay these young British artists to create controversial pieces. Taxpayers fund the museum itself to stay open. Museums have a variety of exhibitions all year. What is wrong with having one displaying a private collection? This is a common thing with museums. Otherwise, how would the public ever get to view extensive artistic compilations of the wealthy? Some collections are beautiful, others perturbing. But, who draws this line? Who gets to decide? The individual. If you do not want to submit your eyes to horrendous, offensive creations, then don’t!
