It is no secret how different college is compared to high school, but my personal high school experience taught me valuable lessons and ultimately prepared me for the challenges I might face in college. I attended a charter school. It was a very small, uniform dress code, same routine every day type of high school. You go to the same classes, rotating the same teachers throughout the year, and learn with the same people. My high school experience was pretty basic. My only priority was getting good grades so I could get into a good college. I was an honor student and definitely an over-achiever in high school. My freshman and sophomore year I was very interactive in school. I had tons of friends. I was on the step team and apart of the yearbook committee. The vibe I felt was such a warm and comfortable feeling and till this day nothing has changed. The activities on campus, the interaction between students, the different learning styles and personalities my teachers have in the classroom is amazing. I chose to apply to NCCU originally because it is a HBCU, and they have a great psychology department, which is my major. Another major reason why I applied to NCCU was because I have family in North Carolina, so moving here would allow me to receive a great education and be closer to my brother and nephews. I do feel like I took a big risk in moving here but I would not change a thing. I am glad that I chose to attend NCCU. I met amazing friends and I learn something new everyday whether it is educational or simply about life. Being at here taught me how to step outside my comfort zone and see things from different perspectives. Everything happens for a reason, and the reason why I did not go to any other school was because I was meant to be
