Social inequality is the distribution of opportunities unequally in a given society, and in this assignment, the paper will go through three articles that were picked. The first one is “The Good, Racist People” (Coates 2013), the second one is “Segregation Continues in Urban Schools” (Krauser 2012), the third one is “What Happened in Ferguson?” (Buchanan et al. 2015). The reason I picked these three articles is that they talked about an interesting, sensitive subjects in the American society, including segregation, oppression and racism that can lead to inequalities. For example, I do think that the most important article among them is the “Segregation Continues in Urban Schools” (Krauser 2012), in this article by Krauser (2012). I think the article touched a really sensitive problem, which is segregation in the schools between kids, that can lead and develop a huge problem in the next few decades, because kids spend many hours in school, and that can develop a certain thought in their minds about a certain race, which can promote hate to others, and that can lead to more crimes, and so on. I do think that kids are the only hope for a better nation in the future, they were born innately, and I do believe it is hard to change old people minds while it’s easier with kids. Despite the fact that many people will disagree with that, but I am quite sure that racism is a socially constructed, and were invented and developed over the years by people. This is the reality and nations should admit that to get it solved. In fact, I learned many things about the American society from segregation all way to prejudice against minorities, and all of these racial things can lead to each other. Once one of the problems is showing to the society, others will start showing. I did not know that discrimination occurred 50 years ago in education and public places. As a foreigner in the United States of America, I did not think the inequality and the racial problem is as vast as it is now. And I do disagree with the first article “The Good, Racist People” (Coates 2013) because I do believe that everybody should be frisked for if necessary for the public good.
