Fear is a feeling one cannot describe; some say that it is an emotional response. I thought fear came from watching a horror film like Paranormal Activity or The Conjuring. Then later I found myself being afraid to ask a girl out on a date. But I never knew one could be frightened from failing. One defines fear as “being afraid of failing, at least some of the time. But fear of failure also called atychiphobia is when we allow that fear to stop us doing the things that can move us forward to achieve our goals” (Mind Tools). Some aspects of my life that I’m afraid to fail in is football, college, and life. Football has been my love ever since I could hold a football; I remember when I was around the age of six I had a big imagination. I thought fear came from horror films or asking a girl out on a date. However, fear is defined as something that keeps one from achieving one’s goals. In the book called Psychology of Fear Allen Gervaise said “I realized there was no way to eliminate fear from my life entirely, and that this valid emotion was one that would build character, and teach me what I had to me, and how to act with courage” (Gervaise). I’m glad I realized I cannot remove fear I only can build off of it. There were several key points I have learned from doing researching on the fear of failure. “Understand and expect that at times you will fail, do not take failure personally, No one succeeds all of the time, probably not even most of the time, remember that 'failure ' has produced many successes and Believe in yourself” (Simmons). If you apply these key points to your life, you will be successful, and failure will not be an option. In addition to that remember that it takes time to overcome a fear, one should set small goals and steadily achieve them until your fear is
