My Fear Of Failure

Fear of failure, I know this phrase very well. It allows the fear to stop me doing the things that can move me towards achieving my goals. When I look back at my fears, I grasp the moment that I have been so afraid of failing that I decided against it and I lost some great once in a lifetime opportunities. Fear of failure subconsciously; hint at, I weakened my own efforts to escape the risk of a higher failure. Many of us have possibly faced this at one time in our lifetime. The fear of failing can be restraining. It can cause us to stop the forward progress in life; we are probable to miss some huge opportunities along the way. As far as I remember, I had this fear in me; fear of being judged for not being right. Our Professor Kate had spoken about the Leadership Aha! Moment in our MGMT class and mentioned that this is a great opportunity for students to reflect and understand how many areas show leadership every day. What’ s indeed exceptional about those moments to me is when I hear something like that; it’s reminding me of what I already knew. I went through some whopping shifts in mindset and discovered one of my “aha” moment of Crush the fear of failure and turn it into the power.
Possibly the most relevant advice given by Jack Welch that was discussed in MGMT class during Leadership and power lecture, was his strengthening of one of his quotes, "Change before you have to." I learned my lessons that I need to change. It 's important for me to understand that in everything I do, there 's a chance that I 'll fail. Facing that venture, and embracing it, is not only fearless, but also gives me a more fulfilling life. Nevertheless, here are a few actions that I’m going to implement to reduce the my fear of failing:

1- Acknowledgment about my fear – When I confess my fear, I deflate its power. Then I can remove the confusion over what is triggering my fear. 2- Discover why I have developed this fear by asking the following questions. Did someone say something to …show more content…

Fear can have such a powerful grasp on my mind that it will cause me to be consumed with it. Understand that I have the power to control my thoughts. Memorize encouraging quote and when the feelings of fear creep into my mind, I repeat this over and over until it becomes the guiding thought. When I leverage the power of shutting down undesirable thoughts with optimistic statement, I create a gate of opportunity to my self to break out of that dreaded Series of Fear.

4- Analyze potential outcomes – Many people experience fear of failure because they fear the mysterious. Eliminate fear by reflecting all of the potential outcomes of my decision.

5- Fish Bone: will teach me how to map possible outcomes visually. A fishbone diagram is a cause and effect diagram, a visualization tool for categorizing the potential causes of my fear in order to identify its root causes like the one we drew throughout the course for our Heineken project to recognize the difficulties.

6- Learn to think more positively – Positive thinking is a powerful fashion to build self-confidence and counterbalance self-sabotage. I need to embrace the attitude of positive thinking in everything I
