The Maryvale Family YMCA branch, purpose is to serve over 100,000 families, throughout 18 different communities by caring out their mission and values. Their mission statement involves putting Christian ethics into use through the programs offered, which builds a healthy spirit, mind and body. They feel that they have met their goal when a person makes a healthy choice based of their teachings, when a mentor motivates child, and when a community comes together for the benefit of the community. The Maryvale Family YMCA is persisted in incorporating the four core values into each of the programs. The four values are caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. A child will be able to get this experiences through several of the Valley of the Sun academic or leadership programs such as: The counselor in training program and the Sky Y camp overnight, both of these amazing experiences pose the opportunity to improve communication skills, team work building, the sense of community, and human values. The YMCA tries to promote healthy lifestyles and wants to reduce the diabetes and obesity rate in their communities. That’s why they have a diabetes prevention program, which educates the community about the risks of the disease, healthy eating habits, and exercise. The Maryvale Family Branch, advocates for laws that affect the community as a whole and funding prospects that support their facilities. They also work with state officials to advance legislative policies that assistance to Non-Profit Organizations and sustain healthier environments. They also have partnerships with A.T.
