1984 Anyone who proposes to be a serious threat to this country should be put to prison but have enough evidence of their involvement appointed to them, for them to be attending any prison cell. No one should have the urge to or privilege to take one anothers lives taken away, but if they feel the need to seek out to harm any citizen’s domestic, they should not have the freedom to express their belief to change the development of the laws. Every individual citizen who breaks the law also have the equal rights to defend themselves and made clear on what charges are made against them. However this does not mean they should be set free or imprisoned with the due process of law. In her short story "Everything That Rises Must Converge," Flannery O'Connor allows the story to be told from the perspective of Julian, a recent college graduate who appears to be waiting for a job, while living at home with his mother. His relationship with his mother is rocky at times, to say the least. It is constantly mired with conflicts about the "Old South" and the "New South". Julian must come to terms with himself, either he is an over protective son or just a pain in her ass. Even though Julian seems to dislike his mother's viewpoints, he continues to depends on her for "stability". When the final confrentation between Julian's mother and the large black women results in her having a heart attack, to which Julian is oblivious to, it causes him to be overwhelmed with greif and fear. He only then realizes the extent of his self-deception is fully confirmed.
Barrera 2 Selena Quintanilla-Perez was an artist in the Tejano music industry that contributed to revolutionizing the style of music in the United States today. The Tejano music genre originated from Texas, but it may be called Tex-Mex because of its Mexican background. Selena absolutely loved her fans, so she went to great lengths to keep her fans happy. (Angelfire 2) Her rise to stardom was also very successful thanks to the support and persistence from her father.
Selena Quintanilla, the madonna of Tejano music. Such an empowering person; she was beloved by many. Her tragic death caused an immense outrage and pained many. Yolanda Saldivar, her killer made a huge mistake that day. Nothing can justify her shooting Selena. Her actions were driven by hatred towards the Quintanilla family, greed, and caused an immense outbreak of mourning. Although some may say that her actions were justified because of her being fired, that is not a good enough reason to shoot someone. Here are my explanations as to why Yolanda saldivar did not have a valid reason to end Selena Quintanilla’s life.
In the twenty century, the U.S society was in the period of tending to be a human base society. The laws in America were introduced to create a fair and regulated society for its citizens. The First and Fourteenth Amendment of Constitution granted that the U.S citizens have the freedom of speech. And the New York State had its law of Criminal Anarchy Act since 1902 for “organized government should be overthrown by force or violence, or by assassination of the executive head or of any of the executive officials of government, or by any unlawful means (n.p).” The citizen in the any state of the U.S should always both obey the state law and follow the national constitution. Otherwise, the citizen would get corresponding punishment for jail, community service or even death for most states. However, the case of Gitlow vs New York happened in 1925 that majorly argued about the U.S citizens’ guaranteed freedom of speech in the First Amendment of Constitution and the New York State’s Criminal Anarchy Act.

Even though they saw Jennifer’s talent at the age of five, their relationship was not always understandable. Jennifer made a major decision and that was not to go to College. That decision was very disappointing to her parents who wanted her to go to law school. Her parents supported her pursuit of a career in show business, they did not wanted to be in the expense of her education. When Jennifer told her parents that she was not going to College and law school, they thought it was really stupid to go off and try to be a movie star.

In Native Son by Richard Wright, Mr. Wright lived in the 1930s and experienced how African Americans were unfairly treated and the extreme poverty that still happens in South Side Chicago. The way Mr. Wright grew up into all the poverty, violence, and being discriminated against placed himself into Bigger Thomas shoes and how handled everything the way he was living with despair. That’s how Mr. Wright sets a psychoanalytic theory in his writing of how he portrays Bigger Thomas, he is self-conscious of his actions and how he wishes to hurt some but doesn’t believe he can bring himself to do that. Bigger Thomas despises the way he lives and how the white people have control over his life but sooner or later he does something that makes him feel superior and equal to a white person.
I scramble upstairs with a pillow in hand and plop myself down in front of the VCR. I press the play button and resume the movie. I will sit here for over an hour, mesmerized by the combination of ice and skates. A few tears may roll down my cheeks as I am secretly being touched by this love story.

The CSO confronted segregation and police brutality, led voter registration drives, pushed for improved public services and fought to enact new legislation. Dolores Huerta wanted to form an organization that fought of the interests of the farm workers. While continuing to work at CSO Dolores Huerta founded and organized the Agricultural Workers Association in 1960. Dolores Huerta was key in organizing citizenship requirements removed from pension, and public assistance programs. She also was instrumental in passage of legislation allowing voters the right to vote in Spanish, and the right of individuals to take the driver’s license examination in their native language. Dolores Huerta moved on to working with Cesar Chavez. Dolores was the main person at National Farm Workers Association (“NFWA”) who negotiated with employers and organized boycotts, strikes, demonstrations and marches for the farm workers.
Ruth Benedict’s anthropological book, Patterns of Culture explores the dualism of culture and personality. Benedict studies different cultures such as the Zuni tribe and the Dobu Indians. Each culture she finds is so different and distinctive in relation to the norm of our society. Each difference is what makes it unique. Benedict compares the likenesses of culture and individuality, “A culture, like an individual, is a more or less consistent pattern of thought or action” (46), but note, they are not the same by use of the word, “like.” Benedict is saying that figuratively, cultures are like personalities. Culture and individuality are intertwined and dependent upon each other for survival.
