To have a better understanding about the solutions that are being implemented in different countries, by the governments alone or with the help of UN, and to know if these solutions are really helping to end the problem or they are not working is necessary to analyze them. The solutions that will be analyzed are the efforts of the Myanmar Government to end the recruitment of children by the Tatmadaw Kyi with the help of UN, and the solution implemented by the Colombian Government called Sport Diplomacy to prevent the children to join the guerrilla.
The efforts of the Myanmar Government with the aid of UN have resulted in mixed success. The complaints received by the task force, regarding child recruitment, are decreasing but still remain a long way to go. The issue of child soldiers in Myanmar is far from over, as the 2013 Report of the Secretary-General to the Security Council affirms, the cases of recruitment of child soldiers by the Tatmadaw Kyi are decreasing, in part because of prevention measures and a more rigorously control of the recruitment process, the use of child soldiers is still of concern. The principal cause of the relative success is the commitment of the Government of Myanmar with the implementation of control measures and the signature of international obligations, but Myanmar`s Government is still reluctant to ratify the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict, which will oblige them to implement several provisions with the supervision of the International Community (Louder than words, 2012). The solutions analyzed gave a better idea of the problem. The efforts of the Government of Myanmar are in good direction but the several reasons already analyzed conspire against the solution of the problem. The same can be said about the Sport Diplomacy program implemented by the Government of Colombia, the focus on the children is right, but the way to do it, using sports and leaving other issues more relevant unattended, hurts the efficiency of the solution. In addition, probably these solutions will not work in other countries because the nature of the issue is determined by the context of each country.
In the novel All quiet on the western front by Erich Maria Remarque one of the major themes he illustrates is the effects of war on a soldier 's humanity. Paul the protagonist is a German soldier who is forced into war with his comrades that go through dehumanizing violence. War is a very horrid situation that causes soldiers like Paul to lose their innocence by stripping them from happiness and joy in life. The symbols Remarque uses to enhance this theme is Paul 's books and the potato pancakes to depict the great scar war has seared on him taking all his connections to life. Through these symbols they deepen the theme by visually depicting war’s impact on Paul. Paul’s books represent the shadow war that is casted upon Paul and his loss of innocence. This symbol helps the theme by depicting how the war locked his heart to old values by taking his innocence. The last symbol that helps the theme are the potato pancakes. The potato pancakes symbolize love and sacrifice by Paul’s mother that reveal Paul emotional state damaged by the war with his lack of happiness and gratitude.
Since the end of the Cold War, the recruitment of child soldiers has been recognized as an increasingly global phenomenon. Although the majority of the relatively recent child soldier recruitment cases have developed from armed conflicts in Africa, by the beginning of the new millennium the trend increased globally, appearing on nearly every continent, including Asia, Europe and the Americas. The prevalence of this practice has turned it into a much talked about international issue. The aim of this paper is to look at how this issue is influenced and even aggravated by globalization. More specifically, it will be argued that globalization, expressed through the existence of international organizations, such as the United Nations, have been ineffective in putting a stop to child soldiery and that globalization, defined by the interconnectedness of world economies has lead to underdevelopment and therefore exasperated conflict and as a result child soldiery.

Child soldier is a worldwide issue, but it became most critical in the Africa. Child soldiers are any children under the age of 18 who are recruited by some rebel groups and used as fighters, cooks, messengers, human shields and suicide bombers, some of them even under the aged 10 when they are forced to serve. Physically vulnerable and easily intimidated, children typically make obedient soldiers. Most of them are abducted or recruited by force, and often compelled to follow orders under threat of death. As society breaks down during conflict, leaving children no access to school, driving them from their homes, or separating them from family members, many children feel that rebel groups become their best chance for survival. Others seek escape from poverty or join military forces to avenge family members who have been killed by the war. Sometimes they even forced to commit atrocities against their own family (britjob p 4 ). The horrible and tragic fate of many unfortunate children is set on path of war murders and suffering, more nations should help to prevent these tragedies and to help stop the suffering of these poor, unfortunate an innocent children.

In the documentary film, “Hotel Rwanda,” a journalist named Jack says to Paul Rusesabagina that it is not likely that people will intervene in the conflict because no one will care enough, “I think if people see this footage they 'll say, ‘Oh my God that 's horrible,’ and then go on eating their dinners.” Without global communication, people will not intervene or help out with the conflict, which is why the DPKO and DFS are aiming to develop public information activities to guarantee the awareness of information that has to do with peace keeping operations. Training and equipment is another factor in peace keeping that must be improved. Under-prepared personnel deploys to the field all the time, and as a result it often shows in challenging and remote environments. The Member States are trying to strengthen UN peace keeping’s training strategies by having experienced personnel to help. Equipment can be just as important in the field as well, it is essential to be fully equipped for building future capacity. The relationship between sport and politics is an extremely important relationship in the context of international relations, power and other political factors. Some people, as the title of this literature review suggests, may try to obscure this relationship between the two with catchphrases such as ‘Sport and politics don’t mix’. In this literature review however, the flawed basis to such a sentiment will be shown in the context of international sport. This literature review will then move on to how sport provides a successful platform for States to express their political ideologies to other countries will be discussed. By the end of this review, the reader will be fully sure that sport and politics do in fact mix and have done so since the beginning and that sport provides a great platform for political ideologies to be shared.
Referring to slide two Nelson Mandela once said that “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than government in breaking down racial barriers.” Sport is one of the biggest and strongest unifiers in the world. Although there may be certain issues within a country or the world such as political affiliations, gender, race and ideologies, sport always seems to bring people closer regardless of the current issues at hand.
