Recommended: The impact of mobile phones on modern society

Topic: Recently much has been made about the effects of mobile media on youth activism. Critically evaluate how mobile technology has been used as a platform to mobilize society in both physical and virtual spaces.
In this period of the advancement of technology, mobile technology has allowed a person to overcome the obstacles of time and s pace, which increases social interactions among people. People use mobile technology more progressively with the intention to alter the way they interact with others in public spaces and this engagement level is higher among youth. Firstly, virtual space in mobile technology can be defined as non-physical spaces made by the progress of technology (Alrayyes, 2012). For instance; it could be music record or Social Network sites using the Internet: Facebook and Twitter, where Internet is the first genuine virtual space (p.1). Today in the rise of the Internet, the most widely recognized Social Networking site utilized as a part of communicating individuals in virtual spaces is Facebook. Based on (Boyd, 2007), social networking sites are based around Profiles, a type of entity (or, less often times, group) home page, which offers a description of each individual and how social networking sites permits individual to gather. Also, it is known as a space where expression takes place and the sites themselves additionally recognize public and private (p.8). This shows how citizens can experience and participate in political affair in virtual spaces. Facebook specifically has been used as a platform to connect individuals on virtual spaces on a political base, which has resulted in mobilizing in a physical space. The large-scale success of social media has not only permitted political parties to reach out to potential voters who less intrigued in political affairs but also allowed people to easily take part in politics (Willnat, Wong, Tamam, & Aw, 2013). These mass can be considered as an extended structure of participation, transferring online society onto offline platform and additionally enhancing online social associates.
