World Religion should be taught in Public Schools In America, most children are unaware of why they are a part of a religion. Normally their religious beliefs stem from their parents or grandparents and are passed on from generation to generation without the specific knowledge of why they believe in what they believe. Americans are either religious or atheist but why do they choose to believe in what they believe? Religious literacy is the key to a well-rounded education, students need to understand the impact religion have on history, politics, society, and culture. Teaching religion in school will allow Students to be more open to learning about why people are different, and will eliminate so much hate crime.

As of 2014 there are an estimated 4,200 different religions in the world, and these can be categorized into several main religions Christianity, Roman Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism. Although Roman Catholicism is often categorized under Christianity. Many people only know the main three religions in America Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Religion can be taught in many ways through songs, arts and crafts, read aloud and many other activities. Christianity is the most popular religion in the world, this religion has no strict or specific ritual. Most children who attend public schools are Christians but what about the other religiously different peers, who dress differently or speak differently. The percentage of Muslims and Hindus are on the rise, children should learn about the growing diversity of religion within their own country. The world’s greatest problem doesn’t result from being unable to read and write. They result from different cultures, races, and nations being unable to get along and work together
