An amazing feat and triumph doesn't begin to describe what role canada has played in the movement toward the women's suffrage movement and improving lives for Women, men and children in Canada. The National Council for Women of Canada may not only be the coolest moment in canadian history but one of the inspirational.

Led by the Lady Aberdeen, the National Council of Women of Canada was established in 1893. The International Council of Women was founded and originated in Washington DC, U.S.A in 1888 and in 1893 the representative women met in Chicago to discuss creating a canadian council. The canadian council was officially established on october 27th, 1893 in the Horticultural Pavilion in Toronto. In 2005, Parks Canada and Monuments Board of the Government of Canada installed a plaque to commemorate the founding meeting of the National Council of Women of Canada. The plaque reads:

“The National Council of Women of Canada lobbied for wide-ranging reforms that helped build this country’s social safety net. The founding ladies are widely known in canadian history today and of the following are Lady Aberdeen and Henrietta Muir Edwards who said “If women had the vote there would be no need to come twice asking for better legislation for women and children, no need to come again and again for the appointment of women inspectors where women and children are employed; we would not ask in vain for the raising of the wage or consent.” the determination fueled her thoughts about women being slaves to fashion and fashion being a transition from goals that would be of higher
