Women’s History Month: Role Models exemplify Spectrum Health’s highest values
The month of March has been devoted, since 1987, to learning about, and celebrating women-both in history and today-who have made and are making invaluable contribution to society. Women's History Month, which began with the first International Women's Day in 1911, expanded to a week-long celebration in 1980 and a month-long celebration in 1987. Now celebrated annually, Women’s history month strives to recognize the great contributions that women have made to our nation. These women range from everyday heroes such as mothers, nurses, teachers to historical women such as Elizabeth Blackwell, Rebecca Lee Crumpler, and Sarah Weddington just to name a few.
