Feminism is defined as “ The advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes ” (Oxford Dictionary). But today, some people have the wrong idea about feminism in the society which leads to many issues and conflicts that arise between men and women. Mary Wollstonecraft wrote in the book ‘A Vindication of the Rights of Women’ how women are treated in the eighteenth century as objects of contempt as well as animals. She has a strong argument about how men should think about women in the society and to be equally treated for their education, considering them as rational human beings so that they could contribute to the flourishing of the society. In the 21st century, a person with no education is one with no employment and live in poverty. During eighteenth century, women were not knowledgeable and not capable to work for public services. “Contending for the rights of woman, my main argument is built on this simple principle, that if she be not prepared by education to become the companion of man, she will stop the progress of knowledge and virtue; for truth must be common to all , or it will be inefficacious with respect to its influence on general practice.” (Wollstonecraft & Todd 65). Author emphasizes on the principle that how can a woman who is not prepared by education be a good companion of man? The truth that is taught throughout the world about nature and life should be taught to both men and women. It is important to know the truth to live a life in this earth with one another. Women should be given equal rights and education as men so that they can be valued in the society. Women were once insulted, but now its time to change the slavery of the women and educate them to become successful companions of man rather than sex slaves. Mary Wollstonecraft supports her argument in her book and proves her thesis about women needing education in this world. Women should have the freedom to demonstrate their opinion without worrying in education, politics and life. One should always remember to treat each other with respect and love which leads to the growth of the society. In today's world there are still places where women are not given education and not treated equally. The awareness should be made to the people though media and books like Mary Wollstonecraft in her books and be bold about the truth that should be spoken
