Who wrote Shakespeare?
For many years students have been studying and learning about Shakespeare, but was is all necessary? Many accuse and claim Shakespeare does not write his own plays, after multiple sources of ‘proof’ is listed, what would you think? William Shakespeare, a literacy genius, but never owned a book or wrote a letter. Born in Stratford-on-Avon on April 23, 1564, and the son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. It is rumored that he was educated at Stratford, where he learned Latin and a little Greek and read the Roman dramatists. Shakespeare created thousands of words, often combining different languages together such as native roots, Latin, and French. He was raised as a Royal District and from a very young age was cultured in the sports and arts of nobility. Even though it is shameful for a nobleman to waste time writing cheerful plays, Oxford as a young man created and staged the entertainment for the court. As an adult, he became absorbed in theatrical performances and squandered away his fortunes in support of several writers and actors (Friedman 13). Throughout this time, De Vere also began writing several poems and plays. Very much like Samuel Clemens, who wrote under the name of Mark Twain. There is still not hard evidence but there are many suspicious “coincidences.” Until it is really proven people with this theory and Shakespeareans are still going against each other proving what they think.
Five years ago, a man named James Shapiro wrote a book titled, “A Year in the Life of William Shakespeare : 1599.” Shapiro questions Shakespeare’s authorship in this book, but not exactly. He gets pretty close to saying he didn’t write his own plays but then goes back. Though, James Shapiro's new book about the Shakespeare authorship discussion, is not what it accomplishes about who really wrote Hamlet and King Lear.
Mark Twain, for instance, refused to believe that Shakespeare of Stratford, could have written so well about the law and law courts, because he was not trained as a lawyer.
