People write all the time, whether they know it or not. People write at different times and for different reasons. People write to many different audiences, such as: themselves, significant others, family members, friends, strangers, coworkers, or possibly to nobody. The reasons for writing are endless, it’s useful for learning, remembering, expressing, connecting, healing, or inspiring. Writing can change over time, develop, or be used for different reasons. In addition, writing can be somebody’s voice, a way to be heard, a way to be known. When people write it’s helpful and a necessity. Personally, I don’t have a good memory, so I always make lists. Writing lists help me remember what I have to do or done. I write lists in my planner, journal, notepads, or on my computer and I intend these lists to myself, family, friends, or coworkers. Usually, I write these reminders or memories at home, school, or work everyday so I don’t forget events, homework, or items. Life is busy and events are always coming up and these lists help me feel in control or sane so I don’t always feel overwhelmed. I write because I want someone to respond and listen, for example, my uncle. Also, once in awhile I’ll write to an old friend that lives in another state or I’ll write to people that I have volunteered with. When I write these letters, emails, or texts it’s sometimes about the events going on in life, catching up with each other or to talks about the hardships we are facing. This is to help express hardships, relate to other people, relive happy events, or to communicate to someone.
