As a result of unreported crimes on college campuses, students are looking for other means of “selfdefence” rather than the campus police. Colleges have given access to students, to buy pepper spray and other forms of “non lethal”self defence options. However many students feel that the non lethal options the colleges are offering, just aren’t good enough. In fact it may just aggravate the assailant to do something more heinous than what he/she planned to do. For example getting pepper sprayed and having no effect on the assailant. A good number of college students feel that a legally concealed weapon would solve their troubles of being a victim of crime, on a college campus. However the majority of colleges feel very strongly against having guns on campus out of the fear of everyone's safety, they really should, and here is why. It would be in the best interests of the students safety, creating a safe learning environment free of crime, and deterring crime before it even starts. However college campuses residing in the states of Colorado, Idaho, Kansas,Mississippi, Oregon, Texas, Utah Wisconsin and Texas, have not reported a single shootout, accident, or a heated confrontations do to a single college student carrying a legally concealed weapon on campus. The reason colleges don't want guns on campus is because they are already a safe environment. But, a crime statistic carried out by the Department of Justice has calculated a 25% chance of women being raped, and collages feel that bringing weapons on campus would lead to an increase in homicides, and suicides. However the same crime statistic by the Department of Justice has also stated that colleges that allow concealed weapons on campus have an overall low crime
