Schools are starting to make a decision on if students should have their phone on in school. It’s a fifty-fifty chance... Which side would you choose? Some students get distracted by having their phone on because when they get text message or social media notifications their first instinct is to go check it and text back. Teacher, Miriam Morgenstern is frustrated with students and their cell phones because the tweeting, snapchatting, and texting is a big distraction and it’s even harder for her to teach. Although some schools does not allow students to have their phone on in school, we could possibly change that; it’ll be safer for the students and parents, easier for students to connect to school work, and easier for teachers to get stuff from students without losing it. First, it'll be safer for the students to have their cell phones so parents can contact them if something bad happens. If there was an emergency at school you have your phone in your hand to easily contact your parents. Mayor Bill De Blasio championed the policy change, saying that “He thought it was important for parents to be able to easily contact their kids”. Also as a parent, you can text your child super fast and tell them information like who’s picking them up or if they are going to ride the bus home. If there is a word they come by and do not know, they can pull it up fast from their phone if their class does not have a set of dictionary books. Also, in some classes they may not provide calculators, just like physical science it deals with a lot of numbers so it would be great to pull up that calculator from your phone. Students and teachers can find facts within seconds, it will be useful when explaining and debating topics. You can have a translator app on your phone, especially for people in Spanish, it'll be useful for
