Lincoln Leadership does not allow students to keep their phones during school hours. Allowing students to keep their phones on them has many benefits towards themselves and others. At lincoln Leadership Academy, the policy for turning in a phones affects each and every student. This policy is only in effect during school hours, no exceptions are made for the students in order to keep their phones. The administrative office believes students should turn in their phones because it is disconnecting them away from the curriculum during class. The problem of students not being able to keep their phones can be solved by giving students responsibility of their phones, having a web filter applied, and teacher monitoring their usage. Letting students take responsibility of their phones can help them manage their time and get things done quicker. Many students are more comfortable using their phones rather than a school computer, and it also makes them more efficient with their research. It is important for students to stay in contact with each other; with their phones available, they can communicate from longer distances and share information with each other. They need to be Physically monitoring the usage of the phones and the kids using them. This will help keep everybody on track and have more students focused on their work. Teachers should also be aware to respect a student's use of their phone; for example, if a teacher is not sure if the student is on task, or if the site is not appropriate, they should ask and have the student give a clear explanation. It is not right for a teacher to abuse their power and disrespectfully take away the phones. A good way to keep track of the usage is have session times throughout classes so a teacher can watch the whole class rather than watching a few students every once in
