Every year there is a week dedicated to banned books. We celebrate banned books but still have them banned because either they aren’t appropriate or they do not agree with schools or possibly a certain organization. Banned Books Week promotes books that have been challenged by the public. It also promotes freedom of books from schools, libraries and books stores. Books should not be allowed to be banned by schools and/ or organizations because it is compromising the first amendment. School administrators banning certain books does not help our society in any way because by keeping certain parts of a book out of readers hands students and other people are being deprived of what is out there for us to learn. Keeping certain books from students is not fair to them because they are not able to learn to the best of their abilities even if it does not agree with their opinion. Banning books that have sexual content, inappropriate words and violence are giving young people a reason to laugh about these certain topics when they are talked about in classes or read in certain books. If administrations taught kids at a younger age about how to not use violent words and how to handle themselves when a mature scene is taking place then it is more likely that when the topics such a violence, sexual content or inappropriate words come along students would be more likely to handle themselves in an adult manner. When students make a joke about what is happening in books they are offending the author of that book. Even though books may influence young minds with negative thinking, society shouldn’t ban books because it prohibits learning and it violates the First Amendment in the Constitution. Banning books takes away the author’s right, some books can be very educational, and it takes away the children’s choice of what they get to read.
Banning books from public schools and public libraries is wrong. It’s irrational to have a parent or school board member’s opinion determine what a school district should be reading. Books including and not limited to, The Scarlet Letter, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Lord of the Flies, and Animal Farm all have one thing in common. They have all at one time or another been subject to banishment. These literary classics have been around for a long time and proved to be vital to the education of many, especially children and adolescents. These novels teach values and educate children about world affairs that can not come from an everyday experience. Censorship in the schools is the most widespread and exposed place for book banning. Do administrators and school boards have the right to ban books? Pico in New York, the Supreme Court gave the school board broad discretion to frame curriculum and teach civic and moral values. People should be allowed to read whatever they want to read, even if it is a touchy subject to someone else. Although some people mainly believe in the banning of books due to explicit content, it actually causes a negative effect on people and children. Not only does it take away the people’s first amendment rights, but it also shelters children from real life situations that might affect their future. Banning books is unconstitutional and shelters children.
When a book is banned, reasoning should be backed up with many facts and teachers should be able to agree or disagree. Teachers are the ones who have graduated from colleges and have earned this right. Though the opinions of parents matter, their opinion does not necessarily take into account all that the book has to give. Parents may not see the potential of the book as a whole. They may just see the racist language or cruel behavior in a book. What their opinions are mostly based on is the information that will keep everyone the most comfortable instead of the importance behind the basics for students to learn (Hills). Some books may include opposing ideas like this, but that does not mean that they do not have something to teach us. Many teachers take it on themselves to determine what is appropriate. People ban or challenge books because they don't want other to read them because of their content, even thought we see most of it in our everyday life. To stop book banning and to keep books on the shelves; if a book has inappropriate content and someone wants to buy it or get it from the library or store they have to get the parents consent. This will also keep parents informed on what their child is reading.

Censorship is an extremely controversial subject, many people think censorship goes too far, and then there are many people who say it does not go far enough. Most people can agree that censorship is the control of the information and ideas circulated within a society. There are four different grounds on which a book can get banned for; political, sexual, social, and religious. When a book crosses the line by bashing politics, society, religion, or is too vulgar in the sexual aspect then books are placed on the banned list. I feel that these days in society there is not much you can hide from today’s youth mainly due to the internet. I believe that there should not be censorship amongst books and they especially should not be banned because society has progressively gotten worse. With the things kids do and see in their everyday lives a book will be their last influence on doing or thinking something bad. Every day, more and more attempts of banning books and taking away the rights of our First Amendment get violated. The challenging of a book is the attempt to remove or restrict materials, and the banning is the removal of these materials. I believe that books should not be banned for these reasons.
The most debatable and controversial form of censorship today is the banning of books in school libraries. Banning books that educate students is wrong and selfish. Censorship of books in school libraries is neither uncommon nor an issue of the past. Books with artistic and cultural worth are still challenged constantly by those who want to control what others read. The roots of bigotry and illiteracy that fuel efforts to censor books and free expression are unacceptable and unconditional. Censoring school books in libraries can often lead to censorship of our basic freedoms guaranteed in the First Amendment. In some cases, a minority ends up dictating the majority in censorship cases. To be told what is permissible reading material and what is not is a direct violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution.
The subject of censorship is a very controversial one, especially the banning of books. Many people believe they must protect themselves and others from the "evils" of many classic books and works of art because they can be deemed "indecent" in one way or another. Many believe that this is absurd and censorship in its current form is a violation of our First Amendment right to free speech. Personally, I align myself with the latter, however I do feel there are occasions where censorship is justifiable.
Books should be banned because Some books have Inappropriate language for children. Some books could be fine for an Adult but then to a child it could be inappropriate.Also many books include words or behavior that might be something a child shouldn’t be reading. Many books that have been banned include things like racism, negativity, and violence.Books should also be banned because some books encourage kid’s to talk back to adults.Which is not right because it is very disrespectful to talk back to Adults.Also I would not like to see my siblings reading an inappropriate book for
