Vets do many things like examine animals and diagnose their health problems, treat wounds, perform surgeries, test for vaccines against the disease, operate medical equipment like x-rays, prescribe medications, and talk to the owners about general health, medical care, and the treatments. The job can be very risky at times. Vets that work with frightened animals or animals that are in pain could be bitten, scratched, or kicked. If the animal carries a disease, then the vet is at risk of being infected. Some veterinarians work with larger animals, like farm animals. They have to travel there and perform surgeries, in some times bad conditions because of weather or the location. Vets that conduct research usually work in offices and labs, they spend most of their times dealing with people and not animals. Places like slaughtering houses and food-processing plants have veterinarians come to inspect the animals and make sure that they’re healthy. They also travel to those places to check on the living spaces and make sure that they’re clean. An official definition of a vet is a medical professional that protects the health and well-being of animals. Most vets diagnose animal health problems, vaccinate against diseases, giving medication to animals suffering from illnesses and diseases, and many other things. They also help humans if they get something contagious from their pet. Being a veterinarian would be great and interesting job for people who are interested in animals and caring for
Vet Tech has always been an option for me, helping animals is something that is very interesting. It was introduced in 1989, the AVMA officially adopted the name “Vet Tech.” In 1998, emergency vets debut on Animal Planet. And in 2008, student population grows from 500 to 700. There are about 17,000 people employed in the career field chosen. Some of the common trends of the job would be, working at Zoos, Aquariums, Boarding Kennels, and Wildlife sanctuaries. These jobs are usually found working in an animal clinic or hospitals and sometimes at farms because that is the “normal” areas for this occupation. In this career there are some general duties such as: Observe animals behavior and conditions, Provide nursing care, Bathe animals, Clip nails, groom animals hair, keep animals calm during exams or procedures. The more specific duties of the job would be to: take x-rays of animals and develop them, get utensils and prepare the animals for surgery, keep and record patient's history. Most of the clinics are open 24 hours. There is not anything that is unusual about the number of hours/nature of the job. (Bls.gov.vettech)
A vet tech can work in different work environments, such as animal hospitals, and private clinics. Working in various, environments create skillful tasks, which include: lab work, radiology, nursing care, surgery, x-rays, and assisting veterinarians in surgeries (Money Careers). Being a veterinarian means having the ability to make quick decisions in stressful situations, showing complete dedication and passion to this profession, and being able to effectively communicate to pet owners.
In addition to helping sick animals, another option for veterinarians is doing scientific research and trying to make new medicines (Fact Monster).

When I was growing up and always playing with animals, I realized what I might want to do with my life. Since animals are, for the most part, vulnerable and helpless, they need someone to take care of them. For animals in need to survive and carry on, there must be a caring person willing to take time out of their day to care for these animals. This person is responsible for providing care such as feeding, cleaning, giving water and administering medication to animals in veterinary offices, zoos, laboratories or animal hospitals. This person is called a veterinary assistant (Writer).
