Vaccination has become a debatable topic in Australia. Parents are feeling pressured into vaccinating their children and are having their rights to decide taken away from them. The education department and health department are refusing children access into early learning education without proper vaccinations records. The health department have started a campaign called “No Jab No Play”. This campaign is supposed to benefit communities and help our country finally eradicate fatal diseases but its being accused of decimating and bulling parents into vaccination.
Some parents choose not to vaccinate their children because they believe vaccines have severe side effects like diabetes and disorders. More often parents are questioning the consistency of most vaccines because there’s still a chance after vaccination of contracting the disease you vaccinated your child against, and that it is also true more people are becoming immune to certain shots. Many children can be carriers and not show any symptoms and can spread these diseases without any knowledge. Vaccinating your children partakes in the minimising of child mortalities. No parent wants their child to be threatened by sickness so preventions need to be taken. The average for vaccination is 92 per cent which is good but almost 80,000 Australian children are not vaccinated (Jane Hanson, 2014). The side effects of vaccines and immunizations are no more different than other common medication, they are safe and extremely effective.
