Why Soccer Is Important To Me

I used to be nonathletic until junior year of high school in 2013. I joined the soccer team. I chose to play soccer because I like to watch soccer and I wanted to try out to see if I really like it. Also, I wanted to challenge myself by involving in active sport. Before I joined soccer, I was never involved in any kind of active activity. Then, I decided I should play soccer because I needed to get out of my comfort zone. After I got into soccer and went to practices and played at tournaments, I began to like soccer more and I became better at playing the sport. I did have days where I felt like I play better than my other teammates because I strictly trained myself to become a better player. I felt like I can run faster, kick better, and dribble the ball faster than my other teammate. This was all due to practices and commitments.
At first, I was nervous to play the sport because I never experience anything that has to do with a lot of body movement. I was a person who doesn’t run a lot and I didn’t like to go out and explore. I was not a big fan of running; therefore, I was not physically and mentally ready to play the sport. However, after I went to couple …show more content…

I couldn’t dribble the ball well and I was not good at passing the ball to my teammates. To overcome those challenges, I attended all practices, so I could be better at it. On my free time, I would practice dribbling and kicking with my brother at home. The extra practice at home helps me get a sense of control of the ball and became a better player. Honestly, before I play soccer, I didn’t think soccer was a hard sport to play and that anyone could easily overcome the skills. However, the sport is not as easy as it seemed to be. Only those who have big commitments and passion can achieve the skills to become great players. Since it was hard for me to acquire the skills I believe it will be difficult for others to achieve the skills
