While researching jobs that interested me, I found that there are a lot of different jobs for each field of work. I knew that I wanted to go into something in the science or math field but I was just unsure what jobs I was actually interested in. I also knew that I wanted to either do something with the outdoors and animals or a job more like an architect or engineer. Honestly I’m just not sure what I want to be. One job that stuck out to me was a wildlife biologist. A wildlife biologist studies the behaviors, reproduction, population, and movement patterns of animals. At first, I thought this would be a great job for me since I love the outdoors and animals. Once I looked into it more and did some research, I realized that this probably isn’t the job for me. This job would cover my style of living, but I’m just not sure it will pay as much as I would like it to. The job outlook for a wildlife biologist is worse than average, it is expected to only grow 4% from 2014 to 2024. The demand for wildlife biologists is also very low, considering that most funding comes from government agencies. Because of this, the competition for jobs is high and to get a job you need to have lots of schooling and experience. To have a job like this you can work pretty much anywhere. All you need is somewhere remote you can go to observe the wildlife and collect specimens. Although, there are not very many jobs offered in Nebraska. The majority of wildlife biologists jobs are offered along the coastlines, in Alaska and Hawaii, or in the mountains of Colorado.
